Licking - How to stop my dog from licking me

I can't stand it when my dogs lick me. I love my animals but they have to find another way of showing their affection to me. If my dogs lick me I'm so mad I feel dirty and everything. I don't know if its just a mind thing but I think of all the places their mouths have been and I loose it. They smell other dogs doos, smell and lick their own stuff and other others stuff I just can't do it. My husband laugh at me all the time, because if I leave and come home, they are happy to see me they start jumpings walking in circles and stuff of that nature but they know they can't lick me. So if one makes a mistake and lick he says I get this very funny look on my face so he starts cracking up and I get mad becasue I don't find it funny. Maybe I'm crazy!!!LOL If you do let your dogs lick on you what part of the body do they lick you face, mouth, hands, feet, etc.?

GIVE ME A BREAK!!! The only reason that they jump on you is the fact that they love you, and they want you to be apart of what they did that day. You just have to deal with it. That said, I will say that you need to get a life. the dog is going to lick you, get over it.

heidibur! There's no need what so ever to be so nasty! Not everybody feels the way we do and that's OKAY. Now it's ok for you to disagree with her but do it in a nicer manner, I promise you, it'll go a lot further.

ok, I am sorry for what I said I did have a little to much to drink that night, however, I have worked with animals for the last 8 years. I have 2 that would make any one drink. (LOL) and all it takes is training and if you are not willing to train your dog not to lick then it is on you.

I have one puppy and three cats. they all lick me LOL!! It's your personal preference wether you let them or not. I don't mind them licking my hands and my feet and my cheek I can wash all of that I just don't like my lips licked and none of my animals never have tried it. LOL!! I guess they know what they can and can't get away with my puppers is big on licking my feet and hands. LOL!! I have a cat who must clean my hand before he'll even let me pet him. To you what they do might make you feel unclean but I'm sure our four footed friends feel the same way some times. They don't have hands so they impovise with their tounges and paws. LOL!! Have a nice one.

I sadly lost my dog a few years ago, but when she was alive she was a real pest for licking! I was always told that if you have a cut and you let a dog lick it then it heals quicker! Yuck I do not think so, the only time I let my dog lick my face was when she had to be put to sleep and I was crying on her and she licked my face before she went.

The wonderful thing about dogs is that they want to please us so much. If you don't like being licked, then you can train your dog not to lick you. They usually learn very quickly not to show affection in this manner if you don't like it. We have an animal sanctuary and one of the joys of my life is being surrounded by my furkids and hugging and kissing as a group, or individually. We are very happy together as an affectionate 'pack' and I am the leader. My kids know that I love to tussle and play and show affection back and forth, but they also know when to back-off. Whether you enjoy your dogs licking you or not is a matter of personal preference. With the years of training I've had as a nurse, I personally am less concerned about getting germs from a dog's mouth than I am about contracting something nasty from a human. But I don't expect everyone to feel the same way. But, one thing for certain, you don't get herpes from a dog.

I hate when my dogs licks me,she has stinky ol breathe. She has a crazy appetite and every time I have something in my mouth she thinks she is entitled to it. She will come up to me and sniff around. I really hate when she tries to lick my mouth.. disgusting

I used to let my dog give me kisses when he was just a puppy but since he got older, I don't. I didn't let him lick me very much though. I feel dirty too when he licked me. My husband didn't mind the licking as much as I did, but he has alwaso changed his mind as the dog has gotten older. We only let the puppy lick our cheek about once.

Dogs licking their loved ones - Mine do this to me all the time
My dogs lick me all the time and when we're in bed, they like to lick my legs. It doesn't bother me at all because I know I have a wash rag and soap to wash it off with. It's their only way to show affection besides their cute little dances that they do. We hug and kiss so why can't they lick out of affection as well as dance? LOL I'm being gross and don't mean to be so I'll stop right there.
