I been biting my nails, since I was a kid. Actually, I can't remember when I started. Now that I have kids, I have noticed, that a couple of them started biting thier nails around 3 years of age. I willed myself to stop, when I got engaged, so that they would be long for my wedding. I am so proud of the picture of my hubby's hands and mine together, because my nails where long and beautiful, for once.

Yes I do. Ever since I was a kid. My mails grow long and fast. My mom used to bite her nails too. My grandmother does not like to see me bite my nails. I am 29 years old and I still do it. I only do this when I am deep in thought and I have alot on my mind. It reminds me of smoking. My grandmother thinks doing this makes me nervous.

I used to bite my nails all the time, but I stopped for some unknown reason. I can't remember why I stopped but at least I don't do that now.

I never had the habit. I remember a friend of mine in school that use to do it and it got on my nerves so bad. She tried not to do it around me but it was habit for her. My oldest son does it every now and then but I don't think its a habit. my two year old was doing it in bed for months, i couldn't figure out why. but now he doesn't anymore, and thats good.

After spending time in classes that taught us about all the germs and everything under the nails, I can say I do NOT chew my nails. I've never been one to chew on my nails before taking the class either. I tell my children to not chew their nails either but that's easier said than done. One of them has finally stopped and wants to have long nails like her mom and grandma. Now if I could get the other one to stop it would all be good.

I constantly tell my kids to stop, especially the youngest who just started, hoping he will not do it much longer.

I did for awhile when I was a kid. I don't know why, it never made sense to me even when I did it. I stopped when I was about 13 or 14 and had long natural nails ever since. Now my four year old bites her nails - or she did when she was three. I think she has stopped because they look like they need to be trimmed. It may just be a phase because nobody in the house bites their nails, so it's not like she picked it up from us. She could have seen a friend do it, etc.
