Ridiculous hate crimes against the gay community

I've been working for years on bringing attention to gay hate crimes. I'd like to bring up two cases and ask how you feel about them. The first case is Ronnie Antonio Paris. He was killed in 2005 BY HIS FATHER. His father claimed that he was trying to teach his three-year-old son to fight so that he wouldn't become gay. His mother did nothing to help. The second case is Lawrence King. He was fourteen. A male classmate shot King after King asked the boy to be his Valentine. He shot him in the back of the head while he was in the computer lab. That happened this year. It's more than a little ridiculous, and I'd like to know your feelings on the matter.

It saddens me that still some people can not let go of their out dated veiws and realise that sexuality doesnt matter that being happy and having a good life is what is important. The one about the child makes me really angry people like that do not deserve children and the blessings they bring. If your child is going to be gay then that is what life has in store for them a good and decent parent would support their child in helping them to be happy with who ever they would like to be with

Not being supportive is bad enough, but beating your child into a coma is just completely unbelievable to me. Also, the fact that the mother watched it all and did nothing sickens me. The mother confessed that the boy had stopped eating and started wetting himself because of the head damage. Still, she did nothing.

That just proves that you're a stronger and better person than some of these horrible people.

Hate and bigotry are caused by hate and lies. The glbt community has been lied about forever. If it weren't for the lies, neither of the incidents you mentioned would have happened. Yet, the right has been successfully blocking hate crimes legislation against the glbt community by lying and convincing people that it would keep joe preacher from reading leviticus. I've spent a good part of my life attempting to educate mom and pop america about homosexuality and dispell the myths and outright lies. I hope that I can see the end of this fight before my dying day.

a lot people still not open with gay and lesbian. i am not pro or against. i see them as human too with feelings. we xhould not have to hate them. i have an uncle he is a gay and our family is so proud of him. he and my aunt is one of the representative of our country in dance fever ( well thats an old show for dancing) and they were really good. as years pass by we grew up knowing him as uncle jon, now she is a she already. still we are proud of him/her. as long as a person is not doing anything or a crime then we should treat them and respect them as equal.

it only shows that homosexuality isn't completely accepted in our society, even though this has been existent in nature, in other organisms (hermaphroditism).
