Have you ever just wondered where you are going with your life?

I think I'm having a pre-midlife crisis... Sigh. In all seriousness, I feel rushed to do so much before youth fades completely away--and old age has it's grip (I'm 29). I'm still in school. I'm broke as a joke. I'm quite the political activist, something of a philosopher, and I take my studies seriously. I want to make a (better) difference for the world, but I'm afraid I'll amount to nothing... Anyone ever feel this way, yourself?

Once in a time before this I felt just that way, what I wanted would not be available to me for others would flaunt what they could attain... Now I'm not so sure that things will not work out, but we do have to look at things in a new way to find the best path to follow... What we were doing might not be the best choice and a change might be the answer. How has the economy been affected?

The economy not too sure. All I'm pretty sure about regarding the economy is the kind of misdirection and manipulation as alluded to in Aaron Russo's "Freedom To Facism" or "The Creature From JEkyll Island." But, on to the individual level, yeah, I have to believe then, that it is a matter of the universe telling us we're trying to go in the wrong direction.

One thing I know is that the universe is not telling me to turn around and run, I must keep moving forward. While the world only turns in one direction we as a society have been subject to a reversed morality that seems to move in the wrong direction. There seems to be a complete failure of ethics as so many people feel a need to lie in order to move forward the the head of the class.

David I know precisely how you feel;been in that particular state of mind more than once in my life (52)... talk about mid-life crisis :) and have an idea that may help you feel better about yourself. The reason why most people fail in life is because they flounder around and lack specific enough focus on a single goal at a time to become successful at it,what ever that goal happens to be.We get bombarded with diversions all the time and forget about doing the things that'll get us to where WE want to go and STOP doing the things that won't. Sometimes a task or idea becomes so overwhelming in our minds that we convince ourselves that it's impossible or not worthy enough and drop the idea completely But, if you could simply break it down into smaller bits and pieces and focus all your attention on that one little piece at a time before you know it.. the whole jobs done. Anyway; What I'd like you to do immediately , go and sign up for Mark Joyners' SIMPLEOLOGY . Then follow through with the lessons no matter how queer they may seem at certain times. If you take the lessons seriously and retrain your daily activities and thought processes I guarantee you'll think about yourself in a whole different way. Heck..Just the quotes that you'll receive each morning are worth it. Please get back to me on this when you can and tell me what you think.

Simpleology.. I've actually been a reader of it for over a year yet--ironically I missed the first few letters, so a few of the basic principles/tenets have always been lost on me. I might just have to resubscribe... Thanks for that, DR...

Sometimes when you follow a path where you feel you are doing "the right things" you don't make a lot of money. It's the extremely lucky ones that get to find work that brings them deep satisfaction AND make lots of money! To answer your question "Do I wonder where I'm going with my life?" I've wondered that every day since I can remember, pretty much. There were a few times when I actually felt like I was "getting somewhere", but that phase passed, unfortunately. Maybe I've taken the cowards approach to life. I've pretty much followed the path of least resistance. There are times when I second guess my choices, but truly, not very often. I'm okay where I'm at for the most part. I noticed you have another discussion about pre-destination or pre-ordination? I wonder if these two discussions are somewhat related. I wonder the same things and sometimes that's my argument for why I've made the choices that I've made. I often believe if something was "meant to be" it will happen. I guess I'll put the rest of my thoughts about this on your other discussion. :-)

Its ironic DR you and me have many similarities. I'm at that old-young age and economically am not where I planned to be despite a lot of hard work. I honestly felt the same way politically until I started studying Obama. I know you don;t like him and I do admit he's not the perfect candidate. But given our choices, he is our best shot to get out of this gutter, I believe. I know it sounds naive but I believe people like you and me can change this political landscape one blog/post at a time. I've hit over 6K people in the last 4 months and plan to hit many more with my message. 1 vote is inconsequential, 20,000 discussions/articles is making a difference.

jormins, thank you, and I appreciate your enthusiasm. My only sadness--and this is not an attack against Obama supporters, but against him himself... He's been caught lying too many times... His chief advisor is an evil s.o.b. named Brezinsky--the left's version of the evil "neocon"--his book "The Grand Chessboard" calls for military dominance all over the globe--Obama is a master of telling people what they want to hear--without really having anything deeper than that appeal. He's voted in support of every War on Terror legislation while campaigning against it... He supported a bill that gives the U.N. the means to tax the U.S. and take away our 2nd amendment... We need someone who's both literally progressive, and an adherent to the Constitution--such a perfect candidate doesn't exist... but DR. Paul's voting record does solidly show his stance on the Constitution, and that is something at least... Now then, off of my soapbox--it is awesome and vital that those like yourself get involved... I only wish the world'd wake up to the truth of how politics and business really run the show.

Hiya David, Your discussion just goes to show doesn't matter who we are and what we do, were all only human and ponder and question where our life is going and are we any use to the world and of course the answer is yes but your human so will wonder this but by the looks of it your doing no wrong in this world but whether you have got it all that remains to be seen. I think your lacking some warmth, consideration and just feeling a little unloved which makes you look in on yourself measuring your own worth in your studies and what those studies can get you later in life now for me that isn't a way I would like my life to be I measure it in what I have inside of me and the love I know I give to and receive from my family.
