Do your children get excited when invited to a birthday party?

Pool Party - Birthday Pool Party

My 5 yr old son was invited to a birthday pool party today by one of his friends at school. He is so excited as this is the first birthday he has been invited to by one of his friends from school. He woke up at 6am and I was still fast asleep. He came to our room and woke me up and said "Mom is it time to go to the pool party?" LOL Talk about excited. He's been harping on me to get ready and it's only 9.30am. The pool party starts at 1pm and pizza is at 3pm. He is already dressed and ready to go. I packed his bag last night so we wouldn't have to worry about doing it today. I guess I better get going and finish doing some household chores before it's time to go. So, as the title says, do your children get excited when invited to a birthday party? do they hurry you along to get ready and dressed? do they ask you every 20 minutes whether it's time to go yet? LOL Happy Sunday!

Yes mine get excited when they get invited to parties, and they drive me nuts as they always get invited about 3 weeks before the actual party and so I get asked "how long" every single day! I have one of mine going to a party tomorrow, and then my 6 year old has also been invited to a pool party in about 3 weeks time. We were not going to let him go at first, because he cannot swim and we did not like the idea of leaving him on his own at a swimming pool!! But the girl who is organising said that a parent can go in with them, so now we are happy about that and we are letting him go!!

I hope he gets to enjoy it as much as my son did today. There was only one other parent swimming but they did have life guards on duty so all was good. He loved it and I took lots of pictures for his daddy too.

Whoa! Cool! If we have such zest and excitement that they have everyday, it will make a big difference. I don't have kids and no kids are lurking around the neighborhood. I miss my nephews and nieces and little cousins running in and out of the house. Wow! What a cute son you got there. It makes me smile and makes really a good day when they ask for favor and that they badly need some help. They are such an inspiration. I would have one soon in the future.. next ten years or sooner.. LOL. and I'll also tell more.. Cheers! I wish your son a grand enjoyment today!

Awwwww, bless him! They have no concept of time at that age, do they, and when it's their first birthday party, and they're so excited, they're frightened they're going to miss out. It's so cute! Yes, both my kids and grandkids got excited at the prospect of attending a birthday party. It's good for them to get out with their friends, I think, especially when they go to somewhere like a pizza house. I bet he'll come home as excited as he was when you left him! Brightest Blessings my friend.

Oh, let's hope they're not full. I think he'll really enjoy the swimming lessons. He may even end up teaching you, my friend.

He may just indeed. When we were in the Cook Islands, his papa and dad taught him the basics in the pool and boy he picked up fast. I wouldn't be surprised he knows enough to teach me the basics too! :)

He was very excited after that birthday party and wanted to go back to the pools the next day. I am in the process of getting him into some swimming lessons soon so fingers crossed they are not all full by the time my registration is accepted. Thanks Darkwing :)

What an interesting title for a post. I am sure that I can not resist making fun of you on this one. But I have never seen a child get excited over being invited to a birthday party. How odd of Maddy to react like that. Most kids would start screaming and crying and insist they are not going no matter what you say or threatenLOL.

LOL, my girls have done the same thing! We had a party yesterday at Chuck E Cheese and it wasn't until 6 p.m., it seemed like it was a very long day for them.

My kids are 11 and 15 and they still get excited about being invited to birthday parties, but I don't. They usually come in waves which means buying a few presents at the same time. I remember though when they were your son's age, yeah, they were really excited. But now, a lot of the time the parties are sleepovers and my older daughter gets bored at those. I try and NOT have birthday parties anymore because it's too much work, too much money, but my kids won't let me out of it.

haha I don't think my son is going to let me out of it either. He has already written out his list of friends he wants to invite and yet we have not even decided on what to do for his birthday IF we are going to celebrate it. Last year it was just the two of us because we didn't know anyone when we arrived here. Now he wants to invite his whole class and no way are we going to cater for 28 kids LOL I would rather 3-4 to come around home and have it here, simple and sweet :)We shall see!

Hello there, my daughter is getting bigger and bigger which makes her understand and learn a lot more things gradually. So if she is invited to the birthday party, she will decide to attend or not. If the birthday child is half of her age younger, she said s(he) is too babyish, there won’t be fun. If the party location she has been a few times, she will not be excited if she goes again. If the party location she has never been and sounds cool, she will be excited to go! If she knows her best friends will also attend the same birth party, she will be pleased and excited as well! LOL

Ya my sister son was excited when he had been invited to a school party (last day of school, summer vacation started). He woke up at 6 am and started getting ready, every time we have to run behind him to brush his teeth, giving bath, wearing his school uniform... but ammazing that day he woke up by himself, it was easy for us to do thing.

Hehe what a cute and wonderful kid you have. I can feel the excitement myself. Though my kids more grown up were already invited a lot of times for a birthday party, I still see their excitements everytime they got one. Perhaps, the games, the food and the chance to go out from home made them very enthusiastic to attend.

I agree :) I think because it involved swimming which he hasn't done in a very long time, brought more excitement out of him. He had a wondeful time!

i dont' have a daughter or son yet but when I was a kid, I get very excited when invited to a birthday party from one of my neighbor or classmate! My mom will bring me to the mall and I usually choose what gift I can give to my friend, best part is the costume party hehehe... I get to wear the "bioman pink" costume!

guessed your son really enjoyed that party huh.. my children are also like that when invited to a birthday party... because they hardly leave the house, they are always here either watching or playing by themselves..so when someone invited them for a party, they get so excited that I couldn't even describe... They're even choosy in what apparel they would wear, always insisting me to buy their gifts already even if it's still a week before the party... What can I say? They're kids!!! lol...even us have our own stories to share how we were so excited with kiddie parties then... nice post... have a great day ahead!!!

He was very excited and choosey too on what to wear and what present to buy. Being the first invitation from a friend at school, and a swimming one, he thoroughly enjoyed his day.

oh how fun! parties are always exciting, whether they are your own or someone elses.... and for a kid it is such an honor to be invited. I am thrilled for your son... though I know it may get nagging to have him prodding you along like that. is there some way of helping him understand when 3:00 is? maybe it will be time after such and such a show is over?

Children are children, they are excited over any events and outings, especially if it involves them. I do not have any children but I have observed from my nephews and nieces, they all behave the same. They get excited over attending a birthday party. They are even excited about the present they are going to give.

They sure do don't they. He picked out a present for his friend and even wrapped it for him and signed the card. He had a fun time today and wants to go back to swim again soon.
