Hi All, Do you bring your own bag when you shop? I haven't been always but will be more careful about this now. I got this email...here's a quote from it "Okay, we’ve all heard this one, but it’s true. Neither paper nor plastic is the ideal choice. Paper is accepted in more recycling programs, but only approximately 20% is recycled, and most bags can end up in landfills. Plastic bags not only can take a thousand years to decompose and but use up nonrenewable resources. The best choice? Bring your own reusable bag. A sturdy, reusable one can take the place of hundreds or maybe even thousands of single-use bags over its lifetime. Get Clean offers lightweight, sturdy, reusable shopping bags in a bright green color with the Get Clean logo, so you can spread the word while you shop." I just ordered some. They only cost $9.30 for 6 of them. I'm ordering a few so when B-Days,Christmas, etc comes I can use them to make up a gift bag instead of using paper gift bags that just clog up the landfills! That's about $1.50 each... and they can be used for outting also! BTW for those of you that think I am promoting my business... I get nothing from this sale! www.NoToxGreen.Com

I do not bring my own bag when shopping though I have bought a few shopping bags hoping to support the earth. Most of the time, when I go shopping, it wasn't planned. It does not make sense to bring my shopping bag around with me.

Thanks for the info! I'm always happy to hear from a fellow "greenie". I'll definitely check that link out and possibly order some of those bags for myself. They will really come in handy for all the various activities my grandkids are in, etc. Earth Day is a very special day for me because the original Earth Day was the day my daughter was born. I still have the newspaper clippings about it from that day, April 22, 1970. That was always a good "excuse" for me to teach her about the environment and saving our planet from the time she was tiny and she's now (with my help, of course) doing the same with her kids! Happy Birthday, Kristie, and Happy Earth Day to all! Annie

I have been working on that. how ever, I find that the baggers act like it is a HUGE deal at some stores to use my bags as opposed to the one provided.

I never did before but now that I know that it can take a thousand years for plastics do disintegrate, I will be taking more bags to the stores when I go. If we don't protect this earth for our children and grandchildren then who else will.

I have never taken my own bag to the store with me, but they have boxes there that we can use instead of bags. It is boxes that the food had come in and other items. We can use those for our items instead of wasting more paper or plastic bags.

I do sometimes take my own bags, but not always. It's usually when I go grocery shopping, because it's planned, but sometimes I'm just out and decide to buy something I hadn't planned on.
