Should I defile my car bumper with stickers?

My 2004 Aveo - Should I defile the bumper with stickers?

OK, I've had this used car for a few months and I can't seem to get people to stop hitting my rear bumper and scratching it. It doesn't look good with touch-up paint. I was thinking of putting bumper stickers over it. That way, when they hit the bumper, it will probably only scratch the stickers. I used to have stickers on my old car.

I guess that would be a good idea. Just as long as they are funny. I enjoy reading funny bumper stickers. I would try to find one pertaining to the problem that you are having. I can not think of a clever one now, but when I do, I will share it with you.

Lol, yeah that would be funny to have one that looked like a big band-aid or something like that.

Thanks! Yeah, I was looking into putting some kind of strip along the edge in the back, but it would look even more tacky then the stickers. They have door guards for this car, but not bumper cars. Most cars with painted bumpers seem to have this problem. What's funny is that I used to park up there all the time and never noticed a problem. I even parked there for a month when I first bought this car and had no new scratches whatsoever. Now, just about every week there is a new scratch on it.

I had not seen your car until just now. When you said used, I automatically assumed an old clunker. The car that you have is actually to nice for bumper stickers. Seems like there would be a device to protect your bumpers. Like maybe something made of steel, LOL.

Oh, is that what those are used for? We used to have some neighbors who defiled the whole neighborhood with their political bumper stickers. We were so glad when they moved away. I am sure that you, on the other hand, would choose something with good taste! I hope than if people put bumper sticks on to cover the dings that they would chose something innocuous rather than pushing a particular point of view to proselytize in the neighborhood. We had about 30 cars that belonged in our entry and NOBODY put bumper sticks on except this one family. We thought it was so tacky, but then, they were obnoxious anyway, so that might have been part of it. To some extent, it would depend on what kind of neighborhood you live in.

Go for it! I'd like to design an "art" bumper sticker than reads "Taking a vacation from myLot!" but I'm way behind on packing and stuff and won't have time. See you in May!

I agree with most the people here. It's your car, put whatever you want on it. It is pretty clever to protect the bumper with them. Go for it Darlene!! :)

I'll see what I can find. I wouldn't mind another Borrego Springs bumper sticker, except that I can't get out there because of the gas prices. I'm also afraid of my key getting hot in the hot weather and the car not starting because of it.

Lol. I actually like the look of a clean bumper, though. Except, this car already had some scratches that were touched up, so I know that touching it up doesn't really make it look better. This is my first car where the bumper color is the same as the body color.

I so enjoy reading bumper stickers. So, yes, use them. Just try to use ones that speak your mind (or heart). And maybe find some that are really original. I also enjoy reading vanity plates. You know, the license plates that people order to spell out things. Some are really creative. I'll bet bumper stickers will be much cheaper, though!

LOL, I think it's funny that one person says not to put stickers on and then the very next person says to go ahead and do it. I haven't put any on, yet.

I never cared for bumper stickers. As soon as they get dirty and worn, they make the car look junky. If you put them on your bumper and someone runs into it, then you'll just have a dirty, torn, ripped bumper sticker on your dented bumper. Lol!

It's already got lots of scratches on it. I don't think I have a dent, yet.

I think a really good thing for you to do would b to go to http://www.cafepress.com and get a bumpersticker made, in relatively small print, that says "if you can read this, you're too close!" ;-)

lol, I would need that, too, because I drive the speed limit and get tailgaited a lot. That's not a bad idea, though, going to Cafepress. I didn't know they had bumper stickers.

Unless it's a really old car I would not advise putting bumper stickers on it. It truly devalues the car and ruins the paint. And if you are going to try to resell it sometime in the near future and you have some annoying sticker like My child is a .... You get the picture. Cars with a million bumper stickers remind me of the classic "hick" car. So I would say no.

Some of the cars I've seen covered with bumper stickers look so beat up, I wonder if it's the stickers holding them together. My car doesn't have any actual bumper stickers, but I do have a window sticker that uses static to cling to the window. It's from the radio station where I work on weekends. My avatar is an earlier version of the station's logo.

I have a cling on sticker in my window for my alumni association. Thanks for your response.
