Why???? I just tried to paste something I had written, and a pop-up told me I had to have 500 posts before I could copy and paste. Do you think that is a bit much?? I wasn't pasting anything bad...I had just typed up a response, but wanted to go back and read the other responses first, and when I came back, I had to type the whole thing over again...GRR!!!

It's so the copy and paste feature does not get abused. I guess Mylot figures if you spend all that time making 500 posts that when you finally get to copy and paste that you just won't be copying and pasting things like complete articles from other sites.

yup, i got that message as well. it will be a lot easier posting if we can do that. but its mylots way of preventing spam from newbies i guess.. so after 500 posts we can copy/paste spam? hehe

It does seem unfair that one member can copy and paste while another cannot, but sadly the feature has been abused in the past by new members copying and pasting from other sources or internally in Mylot. It is assumed that if you have to reach 500 posts first then you will be aware by then that there is no benefits in such cheating, and the ones that may cheat will have given up before then. Still, it is unfair because many new members are honest and participate within the rules.

That happened to be before and like you, I felt a bit miffed about it. Then I learned to live without it. Now that I have it, I feel I don't really need to do it at all. Anyway, you're close to that number and you can use it or abuse it anyway you want. Cheers!!

well you were allowed to do some copy 'n paste for only a few words if your posts haven't reached yet to 500. i do that when i was a newbie lol

i think they want to make it certain that you are not spammer. may be its the guideline mylot admins have set. i feel it a little high but what can be done. hope you reach it soon.

Yeah, copying and pasting is a great problem but I think it is made there for a reason. As you already know, many people are tend to copy and paste unauthorized texts from other places or some newcomers might copy and paste the discussions of old members and if so many newcomers start doing that at the same time, it won't be controllable after all. To prevent this kind of issues, they simply banned copy and paste future for the new members. Although, some still can make 500 posts in a few days but it is still a serious work. I also had the same problems with you. I had some connection problems and I had to re-type a vvery long and detailed response to a discussion, then I decided not to post the answer again and it made me lose a response. I was also annoyed by that. However, it is an issue that helps mylot to be healthy. Because as long as people join here for hearing the money earned on mylot, there might be lots of problems as I mentioned above, but also the people who want to make good contributions will have some disadvantages. Like you did, and I. So, you shouldn't take it personally and just try making contributions without being able to copy and paste. Take it as a game and take it as a goal to reach, it is fun to reach some milestones and reach some goals by having them :)

hmmm...might be the program is just trying to avoid users to copy & paste words from other places. mylot is a place that share our "OWN" idea, not copy and pasting. However, i undertsand your feeling too~
