Asylum responded to a discussion called Do you accept "u" in Mylot? in mylot.com.
I have always disliked this form of abbreviation and do not even use it when sending a text message. I also feel that it tends to distract from the overall content of the sentence or phrase. I do not have a problem with someone who has difficulty spelling a word or has a poor command of grammar, but I feel that anyone who is capable of good grammar should try to use it constantly.

Asylum responded to a discussion called how often do you purchase online? in computers.
I have bought a few things online over the previous years and never had any problems as a result. I searched for a film by Roy Orbison a while back and the other available copy was in Texas, so I ordered it via the internet and it was delivered within a week. I have also saved money by buying my digital camera and accessories online, which saved me around £150 at the time. I know that many pe...

Asylum responded to a discussion called Are Mac's all they are cracked up to be? in computer.
It is a matter of opinion which is the best system, but Macs are certainly a good contender for the title. The main problem is the limited choice of software available, which does tend to leave Mac users a long way behind Windows users.

Asylum responded to a discussion called I am awarding BR, but few with no response.... in mylot.com.
I would personally ignore any discussions that did not have a response. It is difficult enough to select a Best Response when you have several mediocre or poor replies to choose from, so I would suggest simply leaving them as unresolved.

Asylum responded to a discussion called if you can delete your discussions which get no response.... in mylot.com.
Deleting a discussion may seem a good idea at times, but it is very unlikely that such an option is ever going to exist. Despite the lack of response at present to a discussion it could always gain interest in the future. After all, if 1 person responds then it should appear in the listing again and could easily become popular.

Asylum responded to a discussion called Have you every wanted to kick you computer di-rectly in its harddrive? in computers.
I think that we all feel like this at times. As a rule my computers are very well behaved, but but there are always occasions when even the best computer decides to be annoying. It does not matter whether the fault is with the computer or the operator because the result is the same. It can be so frustrating getting the same repeated error, and of course it is difficult to argue with the comput...

Asylum responded to a discussion called Mandriva Linux: Recognizing external hard drives in computers.
I have used Mandriva in the past and it has always recognised both of my external drives without any problem. I suggest that you check the Seagate website to see if there are Linux drivers for it, although I would expect it to operate fine without.

Asylum responded to a discussion called do you allow you friends to touch your monitor screen. in computer.
This is one of my pet hates. I really hate the idea of someone touching the screen, or even worse pointing very close to the screen with a ball point pen in their hand. It never ceases to amaze me how careless and thoughtless people can be.

Asylum responded to a discussion called do you listen to music from the computer? in computers.
Yes, I always take advantage of the option to play music in the background while I am using my computer. The only problem is when using the internet, because too many sites play jingles or tunes in the background which can be very annoying when it conflicts with music that I am listening to.

Asylum commented in a discussion called We did it, we went from high speed Internet to Extreme. in internet.

I must admit that such a site would probably appeal to me as well. I love the comedy radio shows from the 1950s in particular, or at least the ones that were transmitted in the UK.

Do you miss your computer while on holiday?

I went to Spain for a few days break earlier this year. Despite the great time that I had, I actually found myself missing my computer in the evenings. Has anyone else gone on holiday and missed...

Does anyone here actually surf the internet without an antivirus program?

A friend of mine recently brought his laptop to me because he was having problems. To my horror I discovered that he had been surfing the internet for months and was not using any antivirus program...

Does anyone know where to find the enrolment date for Mylot?

I have recently read a discussion where a member was referring to the length of time spent here and began to wonder when I actually started. To my surprise I could not find any reference to a...

Do you find Vista gadgets to be useful or just a gimmick?

When I first got Windows Vista I considered the sidebar to be nothing more than a gimmick to decorate the desktop and make the system look different. Now I find that I have a use for a few of the...

I bought a new Sony laptop last December and it came with a Blu Ray drive, but there does not seem to be any real benefit in this at present. When I registered my laptop with Sony they sent me a Blu...
