Why there is a vaiation of speed in connectivity?

My computer has internet connectivity. One year back the sites were opened quickly. In recent times I observe ther is a delay in getting the connection. What are the reasons? I am not an engineer in computer science. I have opertaing knowledge only. Can you offer any suggestion?

Sites will not open at a constant speed because there are many variables that affect the connection speed. The amount of people using the internet in your area at the time will have an affect, with speed becoming slower as more people connect. The same result is achieved when lots of people visit a particular site and slow down the server.

Yes in the last two years in India,Net use has tremendously increased.Now we have to wait for broad band connectivity for a few days, while I got it on the same day. Thank you for the information.
