Why do people fail to achieve their goals?

Many times we get surprised to see that one of the most talented persons we have seen in the life fail to gain something or fail to reach to their goal. I really wonder why they are not able to reach to their goal inspite of they being one of the most deserving candidates. One of the reasons I have found is that many times people do not have clear goals. Many times people think of only short term gains. I read a funny but quite interesting story about this: There was a dog who used to run after a cat and the cat used to escape every time somehow. Once the cat was on some place where the dog could not reach it but could see it. So the dog asked "I am faster than you but could never catch you, why?" The cat replied " You were running after me for your lunch and I was running for my life so I was always winner." Please share your views about "failing to get to the goal". Thanks.

There are various reason why people fail to achieve their goals deserve40. Lack of commitment, fear, reason, ego, and so many other reasons. Sometimes, other things just get in the way. As the cat replied, "I was running for my life". Many people see something as a goal, but don't have the drive the cat has. They aren't achieving their goals because they aren't 'running for their life'. Many times, they are trying to achieve something for the wrong reasons or, they realize it's not the thing they really want. Everyone has different goals for different reasons, but until the goal has the drive that 'saves their lives' many people will fail or give up their goal because they don't believe they will ever achieve it. People should have more confidence in their abilities. If a goal is important enough to 'save your life', then nothing will deter a person from that goal. Even if they fail, time and time again, they will eventually achieve what they set out to do.

That is right and I fully agree with you that the driving force behind the goal is required. One must have a burning desire to achieve the goal.

i think that people fail to achieve their goals because they tend to slack off and not concentrate on what task they have in hand so they set these goals to try and make a better life for them selfs but yet they dont follow the goals that they set.

I agree with you. One of the many reasons is "people do not follow their goal and deviate from their path that would be leading to their goal."

Lol,these problems have happened to me.I have many goals at the same time,so I cann't devote myself to one goal.I fail to gain something or reach to my goal.Maybe someone has no clear goal, and he doesn't know how to finish his goal.Sum up,there is a clear goal, and don't have many goals at same time.
