Matthew 22:17,21 (KJV) "...Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?............" (Jesus said)"Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's" Now, Im just asking, if the church where we belong to/ affiliated doesnt pay due tax to the government, it is rightfully called "Another Form of Corruption"? Tax evaders and church (doesnt pay tax), can we say theyre just the same corrupt entity?

Amen! I believe it's about time that they pay taxes. They participate with the affairs of the state, then why not the state impose upon them what is rightfully belongs to the state - taxes. Marcos have already thought of taxing them. They have the largest lot areas in the country i.e. prime lots even. I think the country can live alone with the real property taxes from these. I saw one time in CNN that China authorized the formation of religion beside Buddhism, it was called the People's Catholic Church of China (correct me if I'm wrong). The member's donation doesn't go to the Vatican, it goes straight to the coffers of the government.

I definitely agree with you. Putting church and religion aside, did you know that Singapore becomes what it is today because they followed Marcos' way of running their government. Population control was the key, which Marcos was a proponent of. There was no hunger then because of the Green Revolution where every conceivable lot (even the lowly bancas) was planted with vegetables and fruit bearing trees. Electricity wouldn't this be so high if they activated the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant Marcos' foresight goes as far as 100 years into the future. He maybe corrupt, but it's better than what we have now.

imposing tax on Churches/religious sect here in Philippines are very impossible, because Most of the politics here are under the influence of religious leaders like iglesia ni cristo, catholics, el shaddai etc. after elections, theyre are boudn to their "UTANG NA LOOB" thats why theyre are controlled by religious leaders.

visijay, If Marcos was still living today, Im pretty sure Church Leaders are very upset 'coz it will lessen their profits. Our problem in tax would be resolved. No need to add those VAT,EVAT that burdens specially those in the lower class citizens. Thanks for your response

Try to look at it this way : The church doesn't have a stable source of income so that's the reason why the government doesn't require them to pay taxes (just my opinion). People give money to the church out of their own free will. The money that the church receives from donations are in turn used to improve the church and help the less fortunate.

They do have! You, We are the their stablbe source of income No Capitals needed, just few readings and walaahhh! 10% and more of your earnings are already gone. You see my friend, open up your mind and eyes a little bit more wider. Catholics: --you gave donations every mass, why is it that there are many beagars beside and outside the church? evernight look outside the poors and beagars sleeping beside Churches and its gates. While the priest are very relax on their cushion bed drinking eating and somtime doing some other (mmm#%#&) things. ---the crown of marys image is Gold, with Diamonds and other precious stones and also other images. Would that be necessary for the worship of the faithful? Cant they convert that to food and drinks and shelters for their poor members of their church? they even get money/donations from PAGCOR while they are preaching that gambling is bad. BORN AGAIN --- Pastors are always preaching the 10% thights and offerngs. You must give 10% of your total income. Because if you dont you are stealing to God. Thats a clear example of Good Source of Income right? What a nonesense! How come, you can steal something to God? A very powerful, someone who doesnt need something in order to live, someone whom all our riches and resources come from, Can we still from someone like Him/God? definitely a BIG NO. why pastor are keep on teaching that, for you, us to give something to them in order for them to live. hahah! EL SHADDAI ---Mike Velarde said he was bankrupt before. But look at him now after a few years when he stablished his own group (claiming to be catholics thought definitely not). Are you aware how rich he is now? a Millionare I would say. He preached Prosperity and Blessings! it is always in his preachings (I could say coz I was once his member). But look to his member, theyre still poor, while velarde becomes richer and richer. He doenst even have any shelter for his members to cover them in extreme heat and rain. Havent you notice that? INC-Iglesia ni Kristo ---- I have a lot of friends from that sect. they told me. They do have they called: Lagak(everytime you attend you must give a certain amount like a bank savings) but unlike regular banks you cannot withdraw what you have already gave to them, contributions every thursday, even to theyre Holy Supper they collect contributions(when Christ dit it we cannot read from the bible that they collect contributions). They also have this SSS-Sulong-sa-Sulong (that when you gave 1$ today your faith must be progressive so on the next time you must give higher that 1$, so that youll faith is progressing and growing). and there lot more, just be a good observer and like youll see it.

Hi.... I just don't think they do. But if they really practice what they preached then they must do it. It's in the Bible anyway. Thanks

Most of the churches in my area take in MILLIONS of dollars every year from contributions. The wealthy around here like to think that they can buy their way into heaven. I under that some small churches that genuinely perform charity work can't afford the tax burden, but I'm getting sick of seeing pastors and priests driving new cars. Corruption? I believe so.
