First Peggy Mitchell!

No, I didn't notice a change in character. I quite thought Barbara Windsor played the part from the beginning. In fact that's real news to me, because I watched Eastenders more or less from the start, and Peggy Mitchell didn't come in until later. Brightest Blessings.

I didn't know this! Quite shocking as I am a bit of an Eastenders addict! I don't like Peggy too much though - she seems like a snobby and all too often ungrateful woman!!

I hate that if it happens in the midst of my watching a show or season! But yes, if you aren't familiar with the first actor, you then are used to the second and wouldn't like the first! Yet like you, a syrupy sweet character would probably make me lose interest in the show!

Yes I do remember the first Peggy Mitchell but she wasn't in the show long enough for her to make a big enough impact to be missed - she was rather larger framed lady and taller than Barbara Windsor so it was a surprise that suddenly Peggy Mitchel "shrunk" and became blond. But at the end of the day Barbara Windsor was a big name before Eastenders so she was accepted into the role quite easily :)

Yes I did actually know this!! I have watched Eastenders pretty much since it first started and so I do remember the original Peggy Mitchell, I cannot remember what she looks like really clearly but I do know that the now Peggy Mitchell is a whole lot better in looks and in everything else, I hated the character at first, but now I think she is brilliant. Its funny how different people make the character what they are and if you get the wrong one the character flops, but then replace it with the right one and the character becomes an instant hit!!

I only remember Peggy as Barbara, but then I did stop watching it for a while, so maybe this is when the original one came into it. I remember the first time Barbara Windsor appeared and her bubbly nature made me smile straight away. Thanks for the information though and I shall have to go and check this out on You Tube.
