What digital camera would you recommend?

Sony Cyber-shot - My husband and I are looking for a new digital camera since we're having some problems with ours. What brand do you recommend? Which brands should I stay away from? Do you own a digital camera? Share your thoughts and experiences please.

I would differ on Olympus vs. Cannon. Cannon are better built and provide less digital grain when taking pictures in low light. If your going to buy a amatuer pro camera I would go with the Rebel Ti 10 megapixel. Its quick on shots as well as shots in low light. I currently have a sony cybershot but it lacks on the night shots.

Thank you for your input. We're not too worried about the price. We both just want to find a high quality camera that will meet our needs better than the one we have now. Do you have any recommendations for a particular Olympus camera? We really want something with a fast shutter speed and of course high quality photos. I would like to find a camera that doesn't have problems catching photos of things in motion and can work well even in low lighting.

I would suggest that you go to www.dpreview.com and see what they have to say about different cameras. There are many features that cameras offer and you need to decide what you are going to use the camera for and how big you want to print your photos. I have a small canon A530 that I use for vacations and a carry around camera. I have a Canon Digital Rebel 350 that I use for my photos business and for the newspaper. Don't be talked inot a bigger or more expensive camera than you need. Too often a sales person will try to sell you much more camera than you need.

I am using Olympus digital camera. I've been using it for quite some time and I don't encounter any problems so far. I would recommend u the brand. It has a lot of functions, of course it depends on which model u buy.

I have an HP photosmart and I love it. We got a package with the camera and the printer. I've never had any problems with it, it takes great pics and it's so easy to use.

What type of Canon do you own or have you used? Have you had any problems with slow shutter speed or uploading photos?

I would recommend you to use a Canon S3IS, because you can get really great photos with it and it’s very reliable.

i recommend the sony cybershot H5.12x optical zoom camera a nice 7.2 MP sensor, outpacing similar offerings from Canon and Kodak. In addition to beating the competition in the megapixel department, they?ve jammed on a large 3.0 inch LCD screen, easily besting the Kodak Z612 and Canon S3IS as far as display is concerned. With that extra large LCD you?ll be able to get a better preview of those tight zoom shots you?ll be taking. Sony's High Sensitivity (ISO 1000) mode and Clear RAW NR image processing ensure a crisp and blur-less final product. The manual focus and exposure modes give photographers complete control of their camera, allowing for more complex and customized compositions. Specifications of it are .. 7.2 megapixels 12x optical zoom / 2x digital zoom Optical image stabilization auto and manual focus auto and manual exposure ISO 80-1000 JPEG file format movie mode 2 AA batteries 3.0 inch LCD Memory Stick storage (32MB internal)

I have a Casio now. It has some really good features that I like, but the lens quality isn't as good as I'd like. I used to own a Fujifilm Finepix and I loved it. It had a wonderful lens and great optical and digital zoom features. My husband's model is a Canon point and shoot and it does a great job. It has a very high quality lens but the zoom is not great. It also has a slow shutter speed but it's an older model. If you want to see some of the pics I took with the Casio, you can view my photos at http://www.flickr.com/photos/antizim/

Thank you for the suggestions! We have a Canon right now and have been having some problems with it. We've had it for almost 2 years, but have been having problems with it lately. Ours also has a very slow shutter speed which has been a big problem for us. I will definitely look into the others that you recommended and take a look at your photos!
