Do you eat breakfast?

They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I think the reason for this is that it's the meal that gets our metabolism moving for the day. If we skip breakfast we slow down our daily metabolism and are more likely to feel lethargic for the day. Personally, I don't like to eat breakfast straight away. I like to be up for at least an hour before eating. My preferred type of breakfast is a liquid breakfast... like 'up and go', yoghurt, porridge etc... something I don't have to chew much. So do you eat breakfast? What do you like to have for breakfast? Are you a liquid breakfast person like me or do you like a hearty sausages, bacon and egg breakfast with toast?

Our meals these days are all muddled anyway. Breakfast is extremely important because as I said, it gets the body going, gives us energy and makes us burn energy faster. Hence people who skip breakfast are more likely to be overweight because their bodies don't burn the energy as fast. But the old style of meals was more appropriate. They ate breakfast, they had the main meal at lunchtime and supper was a light meal. we now have breakfast, a light meal at lunch and main meal for dinner, which means we go to bed on a full stomach and much of the calorie intake gets converted to fat. Our lifestyles enforce that type of meal pattern because most of us work during the day and don't have time to cook a main meal for lunch. Having said that, the actual time of the meals depends on our usual routine. If a person works night shift of 11pm to 7am then they will probably eat breakfast at about 9pm after they get up from their sleep time.

Ooh yummy... oatmeal (what I call porridge)... nice hot, easy to eat breakfast. It's fantastic in the winter. I often find if I eat yoghurt for breakfast it doesn't fill me for long... unless I get that super creamy gourmet yoghurt.

I always have to have something by midmorning or I feel like I'm going to be sick. My stomach starts doing flip flops and I get light headed because my blood sugar level drops a little too low. My blood sugar is normally on the lower end of normal so it doesn't take much to get too low.
