my activity | jewelenterprises commented in a discussion called Is there any such thing as 'NORMAL'? in life. 1 month ago Yes, but in a case like you describe, the choice is made by a person whose psyche doesn't match their physical gender. Regardless of whether that is a genetic or psychological glitch is beside the point. The point is that the difference exists.
The question is whether we have the right to label that person as abnormal and tell them how to live their life. | | jewelenterprises commented in a discussion called Is there any such thing as 'NORMAL'? in life. 1 month ago That is exactly what I believe. The concepts of normal and abnormal are social and personal constructs open to a huge amount of interpretation.
In general I prefer to use the term 'unusual' to refer to things that are different. Unusual doesn't mean abnormal.
Some of the differences that occur are regrettable... such as illnesses but they are still within the scope of human experience and... | | jewelenterprises commented in a discussion called Is there any such thing as 'NORMAL'? in life. 1 month ago LOL... if that's the case, why is sex so enjoyable?
The fact that it is physically pleasurable indicates that it should also be fun. Which also indicates that sex isn't ONLY for procreation. :) | | jewelenterprises commented in a discussion called Is there any such thing as 'NORMAL'? in life. 1 month ago I don't think you'd get much argument on that... but again, what people think of as evil varies greatly.
Rape, abuse and murder most of us would consider evil. But for some people, evil also refers to things like polygamy (having more than one husband/wife), being gay etc. | | jewelenterprises commented in a discussion called Is there any such thing as 'NORMAL'? in life. 1 month ago Exactly Suebee... of course, it depends very much what is implied when we think something is abnormal. Is it regrettable, inferior, evil, substandard, second class or is it just unusual?
It's a problem when it becomes a derogatory thing.
I think if we used the term in a way that didn't imply inferiority it wouldn't be so bad. | |
