Where is your laundry room?

When we built, we initially were to have a basement and our laundry would have gone down there. Well, long story, but at the last minute we couldn't put a basement in. I considered putting it upstairs but was worried about if it leaked. After trying to work out a couple of main floor options, I opted to put it in our mudroom coming from the garage into the kitchen. Half of it is for coats and shoes, and the other half is for the laundry. I was pretty upset with this decision but it was the only real viable option so I had no real choice. Well...I LOVE having it right off the kitchen- I don't forget about it nearly as often now. I am also very motivated to keep it clean- which means the clothes actually make it back to our closets...when the laundry was in the basement, I would leave it piled down there. We recently had lots of mud, and being that we recently moved in I haven't had a chance to really dig in and organize the mud room (I can't find what I want to put in there for coats and shoes, actually), so that has been a little frustrating that the dirt from the other half is getting into the laundry room. But, I think that will settle down a bit when I get the coats/shoes side situated. So, where is our laundry room and are you happy with it? What woud you change if you could?

our laundry is in a small room near the hot water heater. If I had built the house I would prefer to have the laundry in the bathroom as that is where we generally remove our clothing anyhow. just seems to make sense to me.

Sounds like a posh place to be if you have a laundry room. We have a couple of baskets to keep the washing in and the washing machine is part of the kitchen for all the washing to go in to. Have a great washing day from Deeeky

I live in an apartment, and we have the option of whether we want to rent a washer and dryer to go along with it. I opted not to because I could not afford it. If I had decided to rent them, the hookups are in my bathroom, so that would have been my laundry room. As it is, I go to my parents to use their laundry room, and it is right off the kitchen. We can go through it to get to the garage.

Like you, we planned on putting our washer/dryer in the basement that we wanted to have but since we were not able to afford it, they are in the mud room that leads into the kitchen. That's the only door we come in/out of the house at as well.

Our laundry room is a room that measures 10X12, just off the kitchen. This room also houses my pantry along with a mud closet for my husband. I like having my laundry room where it is located. It's not only convenient but functional. It's the only logical place for me.

This house has a laundry room, huge room off the kitchen, far enough back you can't see it, which I love. The last house had a laundry closet right by the bedroooms, which was very convenient. The house prior to that had it in the finished basement and our bedroom was on the second floor - so too many steps. Never had a problem with a washer leaking. I like this arrangement here the best. I have a huge shelf for storage and a hanging rod and it's far enough back you can't hear the machines running.

Our laundry room is at the front of the house off the game room. The only thing I dislike about it, and I'm sure I could change this, is that we don't keep the heater on. That room has a separate heater from the rest of the house, but we keep it shut off since we don't use that room on a regular basis. It keeps super cold in there, especially on a day like we've had the last few days.
