Did you think it would be like the cartoon show the Jetsons, I did, lol. In the Jetsons it was based on a cartoon that was set in the future, there transportation was flying cars (pretty cool). They pressed a button and their meal was served. You communicated with people via a big screen you could see them while you talked. They had these tube things (think it is called teletransporters) that you step in and it takes you to the next level of your house. I guess I was a bit gullable, lol, when I was younger thinking the future would be that advanced when I was an adult. So what did you imagine the future to be like when you were a child? Was is something like my wild imagination? Funny how television shows and movies can influence the way you think.

It depends on how far into the fututre you're referring to. I looked about 20 years ahead of me, and saw the world pretty much the same as it was in the 80's. Computers were becoming more comom, cell phones andbeepers, and I think that's about the time picture phones started. So I just saw all of this stuff as the near future. Then I watched back to the future! I thought by the time I was 30 or 40 there would be hover crafts and jet skate boards. Things like that. The meals in a pill, and tv communication. Wel, in all actuality, the things I imagined have already come tru, some are not mainstream or popular yet, but they do exist. I think those shows had a bit prophesy to them. I still think it wont be long till we inhabit outer space!!!!

Great response, I think it would be great if there was jet skate boards and tv communication, don't like the idea of meal in a pill though. I did think by the time I was 30 that these things would be around, I am now 29 years old. If it does happen things from Jetsons and Back to the Future don't think it will be in my lifetime. We definately have come along way in technology and medicine though, it is amazing.

I did not think exactly like you....LOL! However, I used to think, that when we would grow up, there would some elevator or rocket like things, that will take us near to stars, so we could see that. I would think, there should be a submarine, which could take us to the bottom of the sea, to see how it look deep inside. As a child, I used to have very funny ideas about future, but alas! nothing came out true...LOL!

oooh wow! hehehe well i was younger, i just thought that life would be easy. i knew i had to work, that i have to study in order to land a good job, but really, i think that you know, if i need a vacation, i go to one...then i can just readily afford to buy a car, some jewelry, and not worry about money.. then i thought on weekends i can indulge in what i want to do, or at night. i can pretty much afford to buy gadgets, etc. but i guess, life is much harder than i thought. hehe but i am fine, not complaining. :-) just have to save for what i need to buy.

Yes I think we all can't wait to get older when we are younger as we think life is so good as an adult. Little did we know that it is alot more then having cars, clothing and jewellery. Noone told me back then that there are so many bills and loans you have to pay. I think if I knew I would not have wanted to grow up so quickly lol.

I dont think you are all that gullable, at least not from this statement, I think most of us thought this about being in 2000. The whole world was talking of flying cars, and robots (which we seem to be beginning on) but I kind of thought that too. I remember being in elementary school writing what we thought the world would be like in 2000. Most people in the class wrote about this same type of thing!

Cool, glad I wasn't the only one, lol. It would be fun if we could have flying cars, don't you think. I want a robot maid to do my cleaning and cooking, he he, like the Jetson family have.

When I was young, I didn't think much about my future really. I don't necessarily care about it. I kept on pondering that I don't have to worry about certain things since I was really dependent with my parents. Back then, future was nothing but a new day.

You may not have been worried about the future, but didn't watching futuristic movies make you imagine what life will be like in 20 years?

I imagined future as I see in the cartoon series. My favourite show was dexter and I believed that I can build a laboratory in my room and hell I also tired it but was failed. In the childhood everything looks possible and you have no doubts about that.

That is pretty funny, you building a laboratory, what were you trying to make in this laboratory? I love it how kids are so creative, if only we could stay that creative when adults.

I remember the Jetsons!! ha ha ha. Well , when i was young or even in my twenties I thought that the future would be a lot better than it is now... But remember, it is the beginning of the Aquarian Age and Truth is supposed to be a top priority. Taking care of the planet and being more compassionate is supposed to all included in the changes.. and what we are experiencing now, are signs of the old disintegrating and the new slowly..taking its place. The next few years should be interesting.. We just might see those flying vehicles as in the Jetsons !! There a quite a few books that talk about the Aquarian Age.. well worth reading and giving hope.. which we all need.. Flamenca

Sounds interesting I will have to look into the book the Aquarian Age. I like the idea of a compassionate planet, we could all do with more compassion in our lives. I look forward to seeing flying vehicles, lol.

To be honest with you, I am not sure what I thought the future would be like, I never saw it in terms of being like the Jetsons, although I loved the cartoon. I just never thought of things like that, you had a good imagination though as a child!!

Well being a child, i never really thought that the future would be like that of the jetsons. But i did think that once i got of age i could just basically go out and get ehat i wanted. Not even thinking about the money aspect ofthe siituation. U kno you see a car pass down the road and i would tell one of my friends or cousins..."thats my car" "imma have me car like that when i grow up" It just amazes me that as a kid, we want so much and say that we are going have this we are going to have that and never even think about the plans that you actually have to go through in order to have these things.

Yes I know if only it was that wasy to get things that we wanted, kids are so innocent and don't have the concept of how hard it is to get these things.

Glad i wasn't the only one, I miss that show, our kids are missing out on the good cartoons. Wish life was like the Jetsons, it would be alot more convenient and easier. Ready cooked meals, clean house, etc.

Well, i think when we are just children, we don't think too much about the future, we just wanna dwell on the present and have as much fun aswe want!

hey Kiran, well i guess i thought that it would be like the jetsons too a bit, but i guess it was the movie back to the future that really got me thinking.... i really thought that flying cars would be in at the moment, and security would be all about eye scanners, finger print buttons and things, i guess its all still coming... but not sure if i like the idea of "big brother" ;)lol
