How do you make yourself stop eating rice?

The biggest weight loss I've ever experienced in my life was when I stopped eating rice. It was a total loss of 35 lbs in just a span of a few months! This changed when I finally found the love of my life - he's such a big rice eater and we loved eating together. Now I can't stop myself from eating rice! I just love it so much that I need to have it in every meal. Does anyone have ideas?

oooowah I didn't think rice was fattening, or is it what you eat it with, I must do a rethink on this myself, i thought rice was ok to eat...grrrrrrr not fair everything nice puts on weight.

Unfortunately it is fattening no matter what I eat it with (esp if you don't get enough exercise - it's all carbs!). I've stopped eating meat (except fish) for 12 days now. I didn't have a hard time giving up meat at all, but with rice I think I'm just hopeless!

i have stopped eating rice made me lose weight too... and i have not eaten much rice already since then... i eat once in a while.. the best is for you to find substittute cause you wont stop eating rice if you get to see a food / meal that needs rice to go with it.. so stay away from these. hehe

HI quenniemae........I agree with you. I am like you, rice lover. I love the Indian basmati rice which is delicious, but have decided to reduce the quantity by 75% as I am also trying to loose weight. When I cook rice I drain out the water after the rice is boiled and almost soft. Does that make any difference, is it less fattening that way....if you know then let me know too........I have really decided now to change my life style, thanks to Internet which gives us so much information about right choice of food to remain healthy. Have a nice day.

Hi Apsara sure whi can resist basmati rice, specially long grain ones Well after you boiled then and drain the water from rice then they are not so fattening as all starch has been drained. and these white boiled rice with out Ghee are recommended by dietician even during dieting so Apsara keep on eating rice, but some people boiled the rice in water and dont drain the water and dry the water there, they are fullof startch, its the way Korean Cook Pullaoo are like this too

Wow 35 lbs. That is really incredible and really cool. I haven't stopped eating rice but I've decreased the amount of rice that I am eating because it does pack on the pounds. But I have no idea how to stop eating rice because I love rice as much as you and your lover do. Good luck with trying to stop eating rice.

yeah I know, it’s the same problem with me. rice is our staple diet and everybody in the family has this psychological block that if you don’t take rice, somehow you don’t feel full after the meal. Its quite irritating but I have not options either. As a family, we take rice only once i.e for dinner. Since both hubby and me are working, we take something light for breakfast and lunch and dinner-time is our main time for elaborate meals. And since hubby loves rice so much and its convenient to make too (just put it to boil and do your own work) and I also give in easily. But I am a light eater, I take only about one small bowl of rice for dinner. This way I hope I can keep my weight in check.

you can try brown rice which has lesser calories and what the celebrities are eating so that they will not gain weight

Stop eating rice is not a good idea, if somebody is gaining weight, then that person should take it in small amount. I love eating rice, it is also regarded as a staple food in our country.
