I cant understand why my child can be fine through out the day, but when the sun starts to set, a fever sets in. She then burns up all night long, yet when the sun comes back up, it seems to go away...until that night.... I remember it being that way with all my kids. I have never understood that. Do you have any idea?!?!?

Hi I am Dr. Somiran Malakar from India. there is so much less information you have gave that i can not give you a solution. Just let me know 1. age of your baby, 2. temperature in thermometer scale, 3. is there any chill and rigor, 4. is there any headache your baby can say, 6. is there any associated cough and cold

She just turned 3. Temp was 102, no chill or rigor that I was aware of. Not complaining of a headache, although she has had a lil runny nose. :)

now as per your information your baby might be suffering from pyrexia of unknown origin. Now you should do a blood test for TC, DC, ESR and Hb% for the diagnosis and also urine test for RE/ME and culture that will give your doctor a clue about the aetiology. without a blood test telling anything to you may cause damage to your baby.So please do an test to treat your baby properly regards dr somiran

My daughter is always a lot worse over night than in the day, often spiking a temp for no reason and then the next day would be fine, afraid I have no asnwers either

My kids always get sick on Friday night - when the doctors office closes for the weekend! I have not once had my kids into their doctor when they are sick -- we always end up in the ER because everyone else is closed. They can have a sniffle all week, but nothing serious, then 5:01 Friday night they are burning up and pulling on their ears!

There are a lot of reasons why babies have fever, if they have upset stomach, colds or in pain then surely their temperature would rise..just give them fever relief med and dont forget to monitor their condition and if it occurred during night time dont forget to take them to the doctor to see what might be causing it. If the baby wont stop crying dont wait for the morning, go to the hospital right away.

Wow that doctor comment blew me away but anyhow, raising 5 children I have a good idea why this is going on and you will see my point. At night your body slows down allowing the tempt to rise. Have you ever woken in the middle of the night with a sick child running a temp of 102 or 103? and you just rush them to the hospital panicked? ( this usually happens only with the first child) Then when you get to the hospital they miraculously get better? The temp has come down by apoint or so? Keep the child hydrated and all will be fine. a temp over 102 steady all the time for longer than 2 days should be checked. It may be possible that she has allergent in her pillow as well, make sure to change her pillow every 6 months.. see if a new pillow will change the temp.

If I were going to make a stab in the dark (no pun intended) I would say that its because the bodys defenses are in a more relaxed state.
