I have an anthropology friend. And we discussed lots of things and one thing stayed in my mind. It was about wicca. She said it exists. But the people who practice it are afraid to do bad things and curse people because they people on karma. What goes around comes around THREE times. Well, i thought witches are bad. They're not after all. Maybe few are.

Yes maybe a few are bad but as stated in another response there are bad people in every religion. Wiccans are generally peace loving and yes not all witches are Wiccans but they too are generally peacful. Wiccan is a newer religion and witches date wayyyyyyy back prior to Christianity. Seems to me that if THIS (out of the "lots of things" you discussed, is what stuck with you from the conversation that you may want to research it for yourself and not let others lead you anymore :) There are many sites out there so I recommend using common sense and maybe finding a chat board or someone who has been practising many years. I usually go with something I have read repeatedly on different sites; such as this herb is used for healing suts, etc.; and 'fits' with me since you will get many, many differing opinions out there. Try to find a site that has been around for quite some time and doesnt seem to be run by teenagers!

All true. Wicca is only 50-60 years old and they are calles witches. Those that follow the ancient craft are also witches, from the word Witt which simply means country folks that live off the land. They hunt and garden and make their own way. Thye are more into protecting the Earth and not polluting it? Male and female witches are called the same. It isn't true that males are called Warlocks. The word warlock means "oath breaker," and the males find this term offensive. Just people that prefer to live quietly and ..frankly, they are the least likely to do you any harm, as their oath is "Do ye no harm, then do as ye will." Thye are just like everyone else..but they try to be environmenatally responsible. Probably one lives in your town..most likely more and you like them and they don't talk about it? Might be your dentist? maybe your mailman or doctor or lawyer..kid's teacher. They stay to themselves and plant gardens still and erecycle and light an occaisional candle for someone who may not feel well? It's all harmless!

Wiccans in general follow whats known as the Wiccan Rede and do believe in Three Fold Law (what you put out you get back X's 3) HOWEVER...Witches and Wiccans are NOT always the same thing...I am a WITCH but NOT a Wiccan..I DO NOT believe in or follow the Rede (its a modernish thing) and though I dont go around "cursing" ppl I will take care of mine however I see fit BUT I'm a believer of Karma due to my Buddhist path so when I do take care of things in a way that may require my meddling with someone else I do it in a way that protects me and I never toss things out into the world uneducated ya know....Its the same with Vodou..never toss anything out without being aware of what you are doing, how to do it and possible backlash etc etc... Witches, Wiccans, Pagans etc etc etc are just like anyone else from any other religion or spiritual path..most are fabulous, kind loving ppl but you have your odd few that arent and ruin it for the rest of us...In ANY religion or spiritual path for that matter, whether its a Pagan path or Vodou or Satanism or Buddhism or Christianity and the list goes on, there are ALWAYS bad apples in a bushel ya know......Its part of life..

Wiccans and witches are not usually bad. They believe in what you put out into the universe returning to you, so if you hurt someone you have to be prepared for it to be visited upon you threefold. The negative stigma about witchcraft was invented by Christians when they were persecuting people for being witches in trying to make sure every Pagan was converted to Christianity and also just general scaremongering and group hysteria.
