What does your payday look like?

On your payday, whether you are paid by mail, direct deposit, or company check what does it look like? Are you standing by the mailbox anxiously awaiting the day's mail, the first one in line at the bank or waiting with a big smile for the office manager to hand out your weeks reward? Are you up early and already planning the day's shopping or is it just another mundane day?

It's now six months since my last payday. I live in hope that one day there might be another, but not until I am ready for it. I used to get paid on the last night of the month - money available from 5pm. I used to be mostly relieved because it meant that the mortgage would be paid the next morning and we would have another month with a roof over our heads. Other than that. I was never too bothered. I took my "allowance" for the month and everything else went in predetermined ways. Since November I have been a kept man and all that I can say is that it is wonderful!

hmmm I would get it through the mail or at the office when I was working it depended on if I made it into the office before they closed. LOL!! But payday isn't really payday it's truly exchange day we get a check in turn we go and pay our bills to make sure we have what we need. so therefore we exchange this paper check or electronic deposit for goods and services that keep our lives running smoothly or not so smoothly. LOL!!!

Both of ours are direct deposits and since I take care of our finances I check both bank accounts online on the day it's due. Once it's there, I go through and pay the bills for the week from my husband's account (which is our main account) and update my calendar with what's been paid so far. My account is like a savings account which usually isn't much because I only work one day in the weekend.

Before, we get our pay at the cashier in our office. Some employees would qeue in or line up to sign in the payroll and get the pay in cash. Now we get our pay by the atm machines. What we don't like with these bank atm machine near our office (and other atm machines) is that the machines are mostly offlines or unavailable during payday or near pay out days. Whether it is payday or not, I usually pass by a mall. When I see things that I like, I will buy. Also I buy some food (pizza, hamburger, bread) to take to my sons at home.

I'm sorry that the jobs aren't coming in, but being a model must be pretty cool. What do you model?

it is direct deposit, and it is a day like any other because the check just pays my rent and nothing else. My son also gets a check and he will go out and get a few groceries and that is our life, no money for anything else.

Hi KB. My pay goes into the bank every 2 weeks. I'm not even sure wether it goes in on Tuesday or Wednesday. And lately, I can't keep up with what week it is, I have to check my calendar and work back in my diary! I don't take all the money out and spend it....I spend what I need doing bills by internet banking and using a keycard for shopping. I leave the money I don't need in the bank.

I get paid on a paycard and I get charged everytime I use it or withdraw, so I tend to withdraw it all at once to avoid the charges.

My salary is usually deposited to my atm account... and i just call the secretary of my boss if it is already in... i don't deposit it immediately because if i do... i will certainly be tempted to spend a lot of money right away... i just withdraw when i have to buy the groceries or pay the bills...

Hello kbourgerie, When I started on my first and only regular job 7 years ago, getting the pay used to be very fun activity. One person from each department was nominated as a "pay officer", who would go to bank where company's account was to withdraw salaries on behalf of all people in that department. The fun part was in distribution, as everyone normally asked for bigger currency notes, which wasn't possible. I was made pay officer for a couple of time before they changed the system such that pay will directly go to individual's bank account. Since I followed the policy of no discrimination under the law, I used to make packets beforehand, distributing different currency notes almost equally among all. Before and after the change, it was always the real NET pay that we got i.e. all are bills were already paid including that of residence except for the office cafeteria. So, it was all ours. So, in the spending part, it wasn't different than any other day. Especially because we used to love to make each day as pay day since we used to have frequent get together and parties where one would pay for the dinner for any happy occasion even if it was in someone's extended family. It was sure a lot of fun deciding the 'happy day'...getting the job; first pay; birthdays of the employee, his/her partner, children; new child in family whether one's own, or that of one's siblings, and even getting new shoes, car, home, an expensive gift, getting admiration letter from office, and lot of other activities were all considered as 'happy day'. And, since there were a lot of people so we frequently had those happy days:-) Whenever I received my NET pay, except for MY part, most of it was immediately distributed among three families that I took care of, and still do.

Well I get SSI benefits the beginning of the month and they are direct deposited into my account...on the day I expect it I zoom over to the computer and check my bank balance to make sure it's in...uh, there was one occasion it WASN'T in when I expected it..not SSA's fault but my a-hole bank who "neglected" to post the money into my account..lovely...NOT. Anyway, the day I get my money in I zoom over to the bank withdraw money for my rent and go to the post office to get a money order (my landlord only accepts money orders..sheesh)...then maybe I do a little grocery shopping, but usually won't do that until the next day...then when I'm back home figure out my remaining bills and for the most part pay them on-line--ah, isn't paying bills fun?

On pay day we get our pay paid directly into our bank account and then my hubby gets a payslip given to him at work. I do not do anything with it until I see how much we have got, as depending on the hours the pay can vary. Once I know what there is then I have to sit and work out what needs to come out of it and see whats left. It is all very boring, there is never very much left to have any excitement with!!

We get paid every Friday, but I also make tips as well, so daily I am bringing home some sort of money. For me it is a Mundane thing really, it just goes to pay bills first, then if I have any left over on my days off I might do some shopping. But the day itself, is usually just another day. I work doubles every other Friday and every Saturday. So it is just wokk and home for me on those days. The only reason I am here today, is becuase I am sick. I know my check will be there tomorrow.

For me, it's sitting in front of the computer refreshing my online banking page, waiting to see that deposit! it's always such a thrill to see your bank balnace go from 0 to $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ in seconds but also depressing becasue 24 hours later it's all gone and you gotta wait another month for it to happen all over again!

My husbands checks are directly deposited into our bank account. On his paydays the first thing I do is log in and make sure his check was put in the bank it always is but I am always scared something will happen and it won't show up in there.

Well, usually in our set up, we go to the cash disbursement area to claim our pay. Sometimes there are so many people lining up. I usually wait until most of them have recieved their pay. The good thing is I also have a sideline job which pays good. I handle trainings and get paid per course. I usually spend my extra money for my family outing. Go to the beach or somewhere with nature, a picnic perhaps. Sometimes, it just a trip to the malls.

I would have to say my biggest pay is from my full time job. I get direct deposit and yes it is nice to go online to my bank account and see how much goes into it. I have a paypal account as well that I have all my on the side earnings go into I just let that build and when I think it has enough I will have that direct diposited into my bank account as well. I don't go shopping like crazy when I get my check from work for I make sure my bills and rent are paid out first then what ever is left I might depending on what it is I want to get I will do so.

My pay goes straight in the bank and I pay my bills on the internet so I don't even get to touch most of my money. A bit strange but so much easier.
