With the economy the way it is right now, what are you doing to save money? I have always been very budget concious, but I know alot of people who were not that are now having to be because of the current economy. I try to save money by not driving alot, I do all my errands in one day, try to schedule any appointments together, etc. I make large batches of food and freeze some, so that we don't waste money on convenience food, there is always something quick in the freezer. What do some of you do to save?

I do not plan my grocery list around my menu, I plan my grocery list and menu around the sales at the stores. I use my coupons and try only to buy what is on sale and those I have coupons for. I shop at Walgreens for toothpaste, toothbrushes, mouth wash, shaving cream, razors, etc that are offered free after rebates or that I have a rebate offer from Walgreens. I buy dryer sheets if I have a coupon and they are on sale then I cut them in half and only use a half sheet in my dryer. If the liquid is cheaper I buy it and pour a small dab on an old wash rag and throw it in the dryer as a dryer sheet. I cook more than we need for a meal and make lunch for my husband and myself the next day. You do not have to use as much liquid washing detergent as the directions call for. These are just a few of the tips I have learned.

I try to buy groceries that are on offer. Walk wherever possible to save petrol. Save old carrier bags to use as bin liners. Use less than the recommended amount of washing powder. Take a shower rather than a bath. I never leave the TV or PC on overnight on standby. Only use the house phone in the afternoon when it's slightly cheaper and wait until evening if possible. Cut my son's hair myself, which is easy as he has a buzz cut. Will pop back if I think of any more!
