I've always wondered what happens to parcels and letters that are lost during transit and refound yearslater. Do they go back to the original sender? or do they finally get delivered? or does the post office go oh that was mailed 40years ago lets toss it in a sale. I've also wondered what happens with unclaimed suitcases and baggage from planes and trains and ships and such. I found a website this morning about unclaimed baggage. (I was looking at info for garage sales) Its a website for a store that purchases suitcases from airlines that havent been claimed, cleans the items and sells them in a store in Alabama like a big garage sale. http://www.unclaimedbaggage.com/ If i lived close enough I'd be dying to go check it out.

I heard recently that British Airways auctions off all the unclaimed luggage. You can't see what's inside it though, so it's a gamble when you look at the outside of the suitcase and bid on what's inside it based on that. Some people earn a living by eBaying off what they get inside the cases. It makes me angry though because a lot of them have information inside that tells you who the owner is and where they live. The airline just never bothered opening it up to find out and return it. They just sell it instead.

I assumed they'd atleast make an attempt to find the owner...knowing that they dont would just make me mad!
