If you subscribe to cable or satellite (dish) you don't need to do anything, you will still get the signal through their box even if you have an older television. If I used an antenna and had an older tv, I would get a new one instead of the box.

right... you also have the option of subscribing to a cable o satellite that covers your location... but to sum up everything at the end the day, you might realize that getting a new hd tv will be cheaper than paying for a box every month right??

I already have converter boxes for all my TVs right now, I just hope that they keep working all the way through next year. Also, some of the stations have either not made the switch or have moved their HD stations to a channel that I am having trouble receiving (they plan to move them back by next year). One station I like to watch is in Mexico and they're not officially changing over until 2012 or later, I think. And, I even if they do, I think this station is one of those LCTV stations that are always going to be analog. I don't have a box with analog pass-through, so it's going to be a pain disconnecting everything to watch that channel.
