Lock up your tanks....Mad Max is on the Loose!!!!!

This morning I heard on the news that people are stealing gas out of cars on car lots, and parked cars on the streets, and I am sure there have been people driving off at the pumps. And immediately I thought about the movie "Mad Max". Are we really getting that desperate to compromise our future by stealing gas? I mean it is hurting me just as much as anyone else, and I have to admit I cringe when I pull into a station and have learned just how far I can drive with my fuel light on (which is a feat in itself, b/c I never was one to be below a 1/2 a tank), but come on. And I know that as long as there are human beings on this Earth there will be theft. So do think we'll get to the Thunder Dome.

I'd lay bets on it if we don't kill each other first! The line ups at the refinerys for the trucks that make the deliveries to gas stations is miles long. The refineries are having trouble keeping up to demand and that makes EVERYONE a potential Mad Max!

Would that not be a said sight for the world to see....US citizens beating each other to a pulp just for a little crude oil....oh wait....wars happened b/c of it already...lol I know it's not really funny so don't take me too literal, K? Yeah I went to a family owned station the other morning (I was on E imagine that) and they were out of gas completely....so I prayed all the way to the next station.

Oh that is funny....no the only thing I am addicted to is caffeine and nicotine....that is enough for me....but with the cost of everything rising I may give up the smokes....i think it is a ploy for all the "stop smoking" campaigns..everything is a conspiracy.LOL

I would assume the people doing this are already crooks. That can range from pickpocketing to robberies. This is just easier and more lucrative. If the gas tank is not locked, you just need a hose and a container to carry the gas off in. It's probably done as quickly as filling up your car at the pump. And it's easily handed off. Think about it. It's gasoline. It's not specially marked or a unique item somebody could recognize. It can't be traced. I'm sure by now there is probably a nice black market going on for this. I recommend buying a tank lock. Even if you have one of those cars where you have to release a lock from inside the car to open the door to the tank you should get one with a key for the actual round screw thing. It'll make it more difficult and time consuming for them. They will most likely move on to the next car. The door thingy can be easily opened. The key-locked screw thingy is another thing.

True about the locks, but I am sure to a professional theif the key-lock thing is something they have encountered before.... Hell, right now they wouldn't get anything b/c I stop every day just for enough to get to and from.....

Yeah this was actually starting to happen where I go to school. Some poor woman that worked at Mcdonalds came out from work to get ready to go home only to find her car's gas had been siphoned right while she worked. I think it's only going to get worse. Stealing gas from cars is a lot easier to do than driving away from the pump. I think people would do that more before they actually started stealing from the pumps, although I know people have already started doing it. These high gas prices are only going to make businesses lose more money and people lose money and gas because everyone is stealing it.

My sister has always sworn by a locking gas cap. I can see a lot more people going out and buying them now. I have not had this problem yet, but I am sure it is only a matter of time.

That's just the beginning of what is about to come. YOu will here that people are going to be dying over gas next. From stopping people from stealing it from out of cars, truck, and at the gas station. This is just the beginning of the gas problem.

About 3 years ago when gas prices started going up, gas hose cutters hit our neighborhood and our truck was one of them. Everyone on the street got hit on one day or another. It was horrible as it was rather expensive to have that fixed. Locking gas caps don't work - they just go underneatht he vehicle and slice the gas hose that goes from the tank to the engine and siphon it from there. I'd guess a car alarm might help for this but it could also be a very quick little slice and that wouldn't be enough to set the alarm off.
