Does anyone chain you up and force you to go to church? You certainly are free to believe anything you choose but why ridicule those who have faith and who do believe? I, personally, don't consider myself to be brainwashed or poisoned and I get a lot of peace and comfort from my beliefs.

I have a better understanding of your original comments now that you've posted more. Your mother's attempts to force her faith on you is making you feel resentment towards the church and the priests. You seem angry about the whole situation. Sometimes parents don't understand that young people have to develop their own faith in their own way so maybe you could talk to your mother about how you feel? Would going to a different church help? I don't think that priests feel that they are Gods...they're following centuries old traditions handed down to them and what they do is a calling, not really a choice. There was a time when I feared the priests, until I met a young one when I was a teenager. He was able to reach us because he was younger and so joyful that his teachings were well taken.

First of all, I would ask if what makes you angry with the priests?I am a Catholic and understand what the priests are all about. Here are some explanations with their existence: 1. Priests are not acting as if they are Gods. They received the Holy Sacrament of ordination that means eligible to preside the mass and has the possibility to leap to the highest position in the church which is the Pope. They did not pretend to know everything, in fact, priest admitted they have flaws also because they just human and the ordination sacrament did not turn them into immortal. 2. Priests are ordained to act as authority of the church and preside the Holy Mass. They are not the one who forgive the sinners but act as facilitator between the sinners and God, they are the one who authorized, based on their ordination to recommend penitence based on the weight of the sins confessed by the sinners, this is in connection to the principles of forgiving sins as set by the rules of the church and not based on their own judgment. Confession with the priest is formulated by the universal church based on the statement of Christ to St. Peter (the first Pope):From this rock, I will build my church, whoever you forgive is forgiven. The "rock"mentioned is not the structure or the stone, but st.peter himself therefore referred to all the Popes and the authorities of the church. 3.They did not rule the world, they help rule and build the church. Church is not merely a structure, but it refers to "people", therefore open to changes and the call of times and should be in action especially for each salvation. 4.They did not brainwash people, they merely preside and facilitate the teachings of the church and informed how one can be repent and be saved but it's up to us how we take it, and it's up to us how we save our own life, because salvation is an individual job. 5. Lastly, Whatever your bad impression among the priests, they did not exist in this world to demonize people, but serve as a reminder that God loved the world so much that He send His only son for the salvation of mankind, He give us an opportunity to enter His house and kingdom and it's up to us how we understand and take it. Sometimes, it is hard to comprehend everything in our life, there are miracles and mysteries that beyond the understanding capacity of our human brain, but one thing is certain, priests are here to facilitate our acquiantance with the Almighty Creator. St. Augustine once said:"Your heart becomes restless, unless you put it to God".Goodluck and Godbless!

Jesus clearly commands that his followers shall not have priests but live as brothers and sisters. Confession to a priest is also not recommended in scripture. Both these things are deviations of the Catholic Church. all the best urban
