Not very surprising news at work

Last week, the company that I work for announced that they were planning on closing the warehouse where I work by the 24th of October at the latest. This does not come as a great surprise, as they had been running the place down for some time now, less work going through the place and not replacing people who have left for one reason or another. It's unlikely that I'll get another job due to my age, (I'll be 62 by then) but I can't say that I'm terribly concerned by that, I'll be looking at early retirement I think. Still, it means a big life change for me which is always stressful and I'll certainly have much less disposable income afterwards so I'll have to re-think my entire lifestyle. That's all the negative stuff out of the way. (Most of it anyway) On the positive side, I'll be able to spend more time with my cats, and I'll not have to spend another winter of cycling 6 miles to get to work. (That'll be nice. I'm sure there are some more positive aspects to all this... I'll just have to think really hard about it..

It is a big adjustment...and sounds like one you are being forced in to. I'm sorry to hear that. On the plus side though... You'll have more time to hang out with your' cats, garden, read, hobbies, spend time with friends, volunteer and if you get bored, you can be a part-time greeter at Walmart. 6 miles in the winter? Wow! That's rough! Bet you'll be glad to not have to do that anymore! I hope it turns out to be a wonderful retirement for you!

Thank you I'm in the UK so no WalMart here. Though the company that I work for is ASDA which is owned by WalMart...
