Would you clean your house BEFORE or AFTER your children come to visit?

My son's grandmother goes crazy cleaning her house before her daughter and grandchildren come from out of state to visit for the week.
She rents a rug scrubber and does any kind of remodeling projects that need done before her 'company' gets there so the house looks just perfect.
Once they are there for a day, it looks as messy again.
On the other hand, I clean for a lady and when her daughter and grandchildren are coming in for the holidays, she tells me not to worry about the livingroom and diningroom etc. They will just be messing it up when they get there. Then the following week, after they leave, she has me clean really good and get everything back to normal.
That is the way I would do it if my children moved away and had kids and came to visit me. I'd clean up good after they leave rather than before they come.
After all, they are the same kids who are messing up my house now when they are young. Lol!
Which way do you do it?

well I do a light cleaning before they get there and a good cleaning after the leave.LOL It is just easier that way to keep up with the mess they leave behind. I had an Aunt and Uncle that wouldn't allow kids in the house because they were afraid that something would get spilled on the floor so when we were young we hardly went to visit them because we never felt welcome there and my parents were not going to allow them to act that way towards us. the funny thing about it was he had to mangy dogs that would run in and out of the house and make messes every where but if we walked in the house with our shoes on he would get pissed.Do you know any one like that?

Lol, Nope, I don't know anybody like that. Maybe they were actually upset enough about their mangy dogs messing things up, so they didn't want to add to it by letting company make more of a mess.

I will do both..LOL, I will clean but not to the point of having a general cleaning, just put everything in order and make the house clean and neat enough. I also make it a point that before I wil leave my parents house, I will help them arrange back their stuff and help them clean the area, it would be best maybe if the children will be given a little task as their training to help out in cleaning what they mess up except babies...Just my opinion!
