Do your cats get under-foot when you're busy?

My big cat is notorious for getting under-foot when I'm really busy. For instance, when I'm cooking in the kitchen he likes to jump up on my counters. So, most times I put him in the laundry room (where he usually sleeps) and that takes care of the problem. When I was pregnant, he kept trying to trip me up. I think he was scared by my enormous pregnant belly. He would run in front of me, and into my blind spot (under my belly) where I couldnt' see him. I almost fell over him several times. I try not to think evil of this poor cat, because he is a real sweetheart. But, sometimes I wonder why he would do something like that. How does your cat get in your way when you're trying to work? Does he run in front of you? Does he sit on your papers and cause a nuisance? Please share your cat's crazy and annoying antics.

Every cat I've ever owned has done this. I actually think that they have no real concept of whether or not we can actually see them, or of the consequences of walking between our feet. It's just that our feet are the only part of us that touches the ground when we're busy, and so they naturally use those to try and get close to us. I think part of why they do it is because we're constantly trying NOT to step on them, and so it never enters their minds that we *could*. My cat, Velcro (so named because she sticks to things with her claws) seems to be made of insolence when she wants loved - she'll get into my lap or lay over my keyboard while I'm typing... lay over my mouse, or if I'm laying down with a book, she'll get on top of my chest and lay directly between my face and the book. "Pay attention to me!" And she always seems to want attention when I'm occupied with something else - like she's jealous of whatever I happen to be doing for giving it more attention than I give her, LOL!

My cats do that stuff all the time. My middle cat EB loves to lay on my lap while I type. But, she's a perfect lady. She wants love and goes and takes it. She doesn't wait. She does not take "NO!" for an answer, so I never say that. The little boy cat (who is the oldest and a huge cat) is so super emotional and jealous. I think he'd cry if he had tear ducts. He's a big bundle of nerves. Yes, I do believe that cats don't realize their peril under our feet. Good reasoning. I could talk with you all day about cats. You have such interesting cat views. Nice to have another cat person on MyLot to chat with. Stop by anytime. Be well! (BTW, I love that name, Velcro! I'll keep that in mind for the next cat.)

My little Stumpy does tend to get under my feet when I am in the kitchen as she can't wait to get food, I have said naughty words many times because she nearly trips me over.

Always!! It seems like he has to be under my feet every time I move. If I work in the kitchen, he is right at my feet or laying about a foot away. I am glad it seems my cat is not the only pain.

My cat (when He's outside) will come meet me at the car as I pull up and wait til I get out, then precede me along the path to the house..sometimes it's like he's walking to heel, and then He'll nip in towards my ankles and I have to take evasive action or trip on Him! I don't keep my house brightly lit-I'll turn lights on as I go from one room to another..He's brown/black in colour, and easy to miss..he's inconspicuous as a shadow in the dark! He's vocal enough at times, but He'll stay silent until the monent I accidentally step on his tail..sometimes I'm reading a book before going to sleep..He'll come onto the bed and either flop on my chest or lay on my shoulder! Daft cat...

My cats are always under my feet every time I walk down the hall I trip on one of them! If I am folding laundry they will jump in the middle of the basket or chase the clothes when I take them out to fold them! They always have to have their nose and feet in what I am doing!
