well, for me i never use infrared any more now that i have bluetooth. why, it's simpler and takes less time to transfer file. i don't get it why they still insert infrared when they know bluetooth is much more practical. maybe for the sake of completion of a product; that your cell won't have a complete feature if it doesn't have infrared. what about you? let me know. thx...

As for me, yes, it's good to have complete features. I still use it from time to time. Some of my friends' phones still have infrareds only. It's still good knowing my phone can still connect to theirs. However, I agree bluetooth is much more convenient if both of you have the feature. You don't have to get the cellphones as close to each other for infra.

infrared is really to connect to. and besides it is more slow to send than using blue tooth. it takes so much time. but if the person who is sending me or im sending with of course i had no choice but to use it again. i prefer blue tooth much rather than infrared.

I have only ever had one phone that has had infrared on it and i did use it a lot until i got my new mobile which has bluetooth, i have found now tho that most of the new mobile phones around dont have infrared anymore just bluetooth , my mobile onlyhas bluetooth on it now so i dont really have the option to use infrared anymore even if i wanted to.

I have yet to even get my bluetooth out of the package and charge it for use LOL! I figured if I needed to transfer files I'd plug my phone into the computer via the usb cable. I'm having trouble with ringtones right now, so until I get that worked out, it's my top priority. I'm thinking that infrared-capabilities have been built into a lot of basic models, it's just a feature many phones still have. It's not like they think you'll use it but it's a basic feature and costs more to remove than to leave as a production feature.

I used to use the infrared feature a lot to transfer contacts and for modem connection. But, my current phone doesn't have that feature anymore. So, I switch to bluetooth. I think, infrared is easier and less problems. It doesn't require password and more compatible with other phone. The nice thing about it, it will turn off by itself when you don't use it and less problem with the security.

i have both infra red and bluetooth in my mobile. but i don't want to use infrared because it needs to keep the pairing device so close to each other and most of the time the connection is lost . but in the case of bluetooth the range is more than 50 meter so it is very easy for everyone to use bluetooth for pairing device and it is simple also. thats make it better than infrared pairing system other advantage of it is that the transfer speed is much better.

Bluetooth is very applicative for networking, Infrared is more appropriate for the direct connections. Bluetooth was the enhancement of infrared somewhat analog type. Infrared is actually like your remote control of your tv. It has the Tx or transmitter and the Rx or the receiver photo diode. i created a simple infrared device for my computer 2 years ago and its very easy. You can also use the infrared of your cellphone as connectivity to the internet... your phone as a modem... internet via gprs... thats all i know about infrared and bluetooth (is this the best response ahihihihi)

I still use infrared until now. At times, when I send some pictures or any file from my phone to another, I experience some problems with bluetooth. Thus, my resort is to use infrared right away. It's just slower though.

Though my son in law has used bluetooth to transfer files, I have never learned to do so. I am sure I will eventually, it is just not a high priority.

I have a infrared cell phone three years ago. I think it isn't for me to convey imformation . First most people 's moblie haven't infrared so if I have't bluetooth .I think it nuisance for me. In recently ,the infrered phone is very little in shop. Bluetiith is very convenient to everyone ,you needn't put two phone together for convery data , you only open the bluetooth and within 10m ,the information transfer between two phones at once.

I use bluetooth usually, but if I know or suspect the other people around that has bluetooh switched ON, i would probably use infrared if possible. Bluetooth viruses is like a flu hehehe. Cellphone company's might still adding infrared feature because of a the old model of cellphones that has infra only. In this way, both new and old cps can still communicate or tranfers files whatsoever. Maybe :)

bluetooth for sure, since it's faster & i don't have to hold both phones for keeping the infrared connect to each other. it's much easier to use, but makes easier getting virus also :p so i just turn on my bluetooth when i need it, otherwise i always turn it off, since turn on the bluetooth also consume lots of battery's power, makes you battery goes empty faster
