How far would you go for your mother?

Now I know some people here in myLot haven't necessarily had great relationships with their parents etc. I haven't always either but things have moved on and we are fine now. It is my mother's 80th birthday on Sunday and so I am flying out later today from the Dom Rep to the UK for two weeks so that we can be together to celebrate this wonderous occasion, no matter the cost. Her 81 yr old sister has just flown from South Africa to be with her (mum can't travel any more)!!! If you have had / still have a good relationship with your mother would you do anything to be with her on a big birthday like this? If not, why not? Would you do it for someone else, another loved one? I will be off line now until June 10th, I will miss you all. Happy posting!!

Hi there naseefu. How lucky you are indeed to see them every day. I lost my father in 1996 and so know how painful it is when one passes away. It is good that you can be so close to them. You must be a very good son and I am sure that they love you very much. Thanks for responding to my discussion. Glad to see that you have nearly reached 1,000 posts. So keep posting!

Sadly, my mother passed away a month after her 70th birthday. So happy for you that you still have your mother and hopefully for many more years!

I would definately travel to be with my Mom on her birthday. Fortunately I don't have to though since she lives fairly close to me.
