I have observed that to be a bass player, you have to have a cetain outlook about music, than the regular guitar player! I have noticed there are two basic types of bass players under my observation! One is the true bass player! He plays bass guitar and nothing else! The second is the all around musician that plays other instruments and plays bass also! Usually a lot of guitar players play bass and guitar! (please feel free to add any other types in here, as I am just being general in types) I personally have upgraded to being a band leader, which includes for me: singing lead vocals, playing lead guitar, and bass when I need to. I can sing while playing bass or guitar, either one! To me, music is a study, I study and observe lead singers, I study and observe, lead guitar players, and I study and observe good bass players, and you have to have a different personality to be interested in playing bass! But to me It's just a part of playing music!

Hello stranger, good to hear from you. I sent you a private message but not sure if you got it since I have been having a hard time getting them to go through. Now to the subject here. For Christmas we got our son an electric guitar because he and his friends had been messing with them. One of his friends has close to 20 elect. guitars, all kinds. My son does not read music but is getting the hang of it real good. They practice all the time and ever so often he will play for me and show me how he is coming along. The other day he showed me one of his fingers and there was a big blister on it, he had been learning the bass guitar. So, he would fit under the catagory of the type of player to play or at least learning to play different kinds of guitars. Have a great day.

Well that's great tyc, glad your son has in interest in guitars and bass! I did receive your message, thank you! Just tell your son to take it easy, and try not to get blisters, until he builds up the callouses, then he'll be alright! Here lately, the music playing has been getting real busy, and I am doing a lot of playing, which is good for the money! I'm playing in several different bands, and having a lot of fun playing also! Happy Posting !
