So awhile back the pope decided to make 7 more deadly sins... Here they are... Tell me do you agree with them or are some a bit out there I think all of them are a bit out there.. because we all do one or another... The Old ones. 1. Lust 2. Gluttony 3. Greed 4. Sloth 5. Wrath 6. Envy 7. Pride The New ones! 8. Environmental pollution 9. Genetic manipulation 10. Accumulating excessive wealth 11. Inflicting poverty 12. Drug trafficking and consumption 13. Morally debatable experiments 14. Violation of fundamental rights of human nature

well that really got me thinking. I guess they are alright, because it gives us something to strive for. I'm not sure they should be included with the deadly sins though. The new ones seem a little out of our control on the most part.

They are really way out there, and yes you are right we all commit at least some of these during our life times. We probably shouldn't do these things, but.....

Well, for starters I totally disagree with four of the original seven. As for the new ones, I'm down with number 8, 11, 13 (I think... I'm not clear what that means...), and 14 (again, I think... I don't know what that means exactly either.) Now if he'd just add something about animal rights to the list I'd be set.

Instead of adding new things to a list that was made after G'd's laws were already written, why don't folks just follow as many of the 613 mitzvot that are in the Bible or Torah or as most of the uninformed call it the old testament? A Mitzvot is a Commandment from G'd, and there are 613 of them in the Torah. Some of them cannot be followed anymore because the Temple was destroyed, but there are a whole lot of them that are still viable. They are easily found online, if you do not wish to search them out in the Bible for yourself. I know a lot of folks like to have the Bible spoon fed to them. The mitzvot are not written in jibberish. They state very plainly what they mean. No one has to decifer or expain anything for you. And they were given to us by G'd not a man who has lived a secluded life. Shalom~Adoniah

well I dont really see anything wrong with getting high I mean weed is a natural grow plant "god made it"

nothing's really wrong it's just that that one's obviously a sin other than the other new ones. but yeah, i agree, what's wrong with getting high. it's making yourself happy. LOL.

I think it's ok, he just made it more specific. Although thee maybe all part of the old ones. Maybe it would be better if they match or made the the new ones the example of the old. Like accumulating excessive wealth is the sample of greed.

hmm... accumalating excess wealth is not always greed... but also coz of envy!! when a industrialist sees a competitor who is earning more he thrives to earn more!! its business... and if everyone stop this.. then stock market will collapse... and the whole world would be under mercy of the pope/church just coz he would be the only guy with money :P

See the original 7 have only 0ne word and they describe the fundamental human nature, I think all the other new ones can be interpreted through the 7 original ones.

true the first 7 describe the human nature!! but if they are the fundamental rights of humans then im afraid that everyone is goin to hell.... coz under the 14th sin... they would disobey them!! if you envy some1 it is natural.... but it is under the first 7 sins... while if you try to push into not envying... then you fall against the 14th one :P

what do you all think.... people shouldn't even have the right to show their emotions!! the first 7 sins are actually common emotions that a human being faces and common things that a person does!! if i see a hot chick... my mind says wow shez good... if some1 smacks me... i get angry if i see my competitor grow i envy if i work late i wake up late!! if i like a dish i eat it more.... well a human without emotions is a robot...!!

I think it's okay. At least this sets good goals we all should strive to achieve no matter what religion, lol. And many struggled with the first seven already. Now we have more to confess to and to repent;)

LoL yes more to confess if that is your cup of tea.. I kind of find some to be eh but some are good that people should try to do..but hey who does not lust, envy ect at some point..

I don't agree with the extra 7 added on deadly sins. My view is the original seven deadly sins are internal. Whereas 8 to 14 are external. Doesn't make sense to me. The seven deadly sins are feelings/wants/needs/emotions (not sure how to describe it, sorry? that are stirred within humans and generally on an individual basis (not always) it can be a trait within us. Whereas 8 to 10 aren't within us, its not a personality trait and 8 to 10 seem to be consequences in my eyes. I'd also like to point out that the 7 deadly sins cause the 8 to 10 sins if you see as i do the 8 to 10 sins as consequences. e.g. sin 10 accumulating excessive wealth well surely that comes about due to greed amongst others. For this reason i feel 8 to 10 is unnecessary its already there in the original 7. If i look at the list as 14 deadly sins i certainty don't agree with the last seven nor do i believe they belong. Looking at 8 to 10 are i guess a modern take on the seven deadly sins but they also are specific. Seven deadly sins can apply to all ages, others can't. Also 8 to 10 are modern day problems, i think this list needs to be taken away from the seven deadly sins and looked at by itself. But there are so many problems/sins in the world today do these 7 really sum it all up?
