Oil prices, demand or just plain greed.

Rather the shell out big bucks at the pumps, most American's stayed home over Memorial weekend. This created concerns that American's are curbing their demand for oil and what's even more interesting, the price of oil began to drop. Who would of thought that staying at home would be the most powerful action one could make. What do you think; Is the price of oil all about supply and demand, or is it just greed? I think that it's greed, and when it looks like we will stay home and pay the price, oil starts dropping. That doesn't sound like supply problems to me. I also think that oil prices would start dropping if all American's started cutting back. What do you think?

I think that oil prices have a lot to do with greed. Unfortunately we have become so dependent on gas that people CAN jack up the price because they know we need the produce. I'm sure there is a need to watch how much energy we use, but I am also sure that they are exagerating to a point, in order to SCARE us, somehow.

Thank you for responding, it is sad the our dependency for it probable creates the greed. I also agree that they are using scare tactics, but for me, I will continue to reduce my use of oil because I don't like that someone else is making huge profits just because they can. Thanks, again Karen

I think that you are right. Since gas prices went up, I see alot of other price going up to. And it has really made things a lttle harder for people. And I think that the reason oil prices went up was because of someone being greedy. And I also think that if people did start cutting back that we would see a big difference in prices.

Thanks for responding, it is my hope that other's will look for ways to cut-back and if enough people do it; maybe it will send the message that we will not pay for prices that allow others to make such huge profits, no matter if we need it or not. Thanks, again Karen

That sounds like a great idea for those that can afford to stay home; but there are plenty that can't. Today Cnn spoke on the gas prices and noted for the last 21 days it has been going up and up. Greed, could be who know right now the people are paying the price for what ever reason for the gas going up. I can't remember the person that wrote the discussion; but they had a listing of prices all over the world. Some places were high and there were cheap and i wondered to myself who is the cause for this? Still wondering what cause the increase.

Thanks for responding, I keep reading that it is simple mathmatics, if demand goes up then the cost goes up. Memorial day may have not only proved we are not willing to pay those prices, but because demand seemed to be dropping, so did the price. I also understand many people can't afford to stay home, I count my blessing everyday, if I had to go to work, I would not be able to afford it, I live in a rural area and quite a distance to go to even get to the nearest town. Thanks, again Karen
