I Started the BBQ last night to start making dinner. My wife said it smelt like some one was smoking pot (How dies she know?). I looked out the back window and saw some leave that had blown under the BBQ were burning. It was just a couple of leaves but they were smoking up the patio. I did not even think they were a problem when I lite the BBQ. But they were. I learned a lesson. Keep that area around the BBQ clean as a whistle. Grease dripping from the fire can cause all kinds of problems. We are luck that the wind did not blow those smoking leaves somewhere where they could of caused a major problem.

We are really lucky. Especially with the scare a couple days before with the fire truck being across the street.

well im glad that it did not happen ..i mean the fire thing...and i guess its serves us a eye opener and will be very cautious the next time...i had an experienced one myself when im cooking..actually frying some chicken wings...and i guess i had adjusted it to a high level that when i put the wings my pan was on fire inside.. and of course i panicand its my husband who put it off..luckily it happens on a weekend and no work ..

Kitchen and grease fires can be really bad and hard to put out. We keep a fire extinguisher in under the kitchen sink just for that emergency

I hate the smell of burning leaves. It is a good thing that your wife pointed it out. It could have become a real problem if the wind had caught them. Now you know for next time though. Leaves are bad!

I have never burnt leaves before so I never suspected that the smell was comming from our own yard. I really thought our wino neighbor next door was starting a new habit.

Yes you are very lucky. My son-in-law is a firefighter and he says that grills keeps them hopping during the summer.

I really never gave much thought to the BBQ as a disaster waiting to happen, And there was just a few leaves I would have never thought that they would be a problem.
