The Importance of First Aid and CPR

I got my First Aid and CPR through my work back in October and thankfully have not had to use it until yesterday! As some of you may or may not know I work as a cashier at a grocery store and I was at cash yesterday with a line up when I heard the code over the intercom....By the time I could get relieved from my cash I was not the first to arrive on scene but I did run and call 911 after assessing that they were likely not answering the cell phone call! A Young mother (31) of three and her husband were shopping when she had a Focal Seizure...Thankfully her husband was there and is also Certified...He recognized the condition, although she has no history of this, and helped her down to the floor....Adrenalin rushing for me to say the least!!!! So, I am curious...How many here have their certification and if you do, have you ever had to use it? If not, would you consider getting it? Why or Why Not? Stay Safe All and Happy My Lotting! ~Heavens~

Thank goodness the husband knew what to do. Thank goodness you called 9-1-1 again. Sometimes that is the most important thing you can do. So many people just assume someone else is calling and don't bother. I am certified as I am an Adult Girl Scout. Thankfully, I have never had anything happen to the girls. But, I have stopped at a few accidents. Nothing serious, thank goodness. I am also accident prone, so I get lots of practice on myself. Everyone should have CPR and First Aid training. You just never know when you might need it.

I did have my first aid certificate, but it ran out some time ago. I have not really thought about doing it again. I used to work in a nursing home and so all that kind of training was given to us as part of our jobs which was good. When I did have my certificate I never actually got to use my skills, nothing ever happened when I was around. I am glad that I did not have to though, as I am not sure how I would act in an emergency. My hubby has his first aid too.

Well, to be honest I was kind of happy that I was not the first on the scene and I actually hope it never happens again while I'm on the clock but I feel I did well considering.... I am just afraid that I would forget what I had been taught because it was so long ago and I never had to use it but hopefully it would come back to you.... I just hope it never happens again! ~Heavens~

I was certified a number of years ago but thankfully I have never had to use it on anyone. we should all be certified as one never knows when something could happen and you might be able to help save a life..

I agree Hatley! It is important to get re-certified as well every couple of years to stay fresh! Thanks ~Heavens~
