New age travels

Years ago I would just like to travel to see new landscapes, new cultures, but now I usually like to include an interest such as a music festival, a place full of philosophical interest, ashrams in India - meditating in an exotic clime, a retreat to hear from a 'guru', a place with interesting animals or even to work in a voluntary capacity. What are other peoples' experiences of this?

I really love to travel and really seeing different landscapes, meeting the local people and watching the native wildlife. When I was in Australia I worked dressing up as a koala, collecting money for charity. I have liked spending time on palm fringed beaches especially when I have had the chance to go snorkeling around a colorful coral reef with lots of friendly fish. I so enjoyed walking along coastal and country tracks in New Zealand, going up a mountain for a superb view. I found it fasinating to explore historical sites like the Mayan ruins in Belize. I hope to go to India next year and experience its philosophical interest. I have heard that the beaches around Kerela are beautiful. I imagine the culture is interesting and that the people are friendly. A festival in India would be a memorable event and meditating would be so relaxing.
