The Democrats running for the Presidency have all lamented about the economy. Well it most not be that bad if we can afford their campaigns. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have spent $121 million combined vying for the Democratic presidential nomination. All in all the Democrats spent in advertising, $135 million. The Republican only used $57 million, with John McCain using $11 million. Obama spent a grand total of $75 million, while Clinton spent $46 million. So if the economy was so horrible then why, and how did them two spend so much money? The money came from somewhere.

Remember too, the job only pays $200+ K per year. Imagine why people spends 10's of millions for a 200K job. Someone expects a mighty big pay back for all that campaign cash.

They have a lot of friends who think it very important that one of them win in order to further the liberal agenda to strip us of our rights and make us more dependent on the government. To be able to gain more power over the ordinary citizen is worth any amount to these people because the lust for power is their primary driving force.

That must mean McCain used $11 in one month! The economy is horrible, actually it's a bit beyond horrible, but apparently there are enough not so wealthy people who could afford to give Obama and Clinton a few bucks here and there and a smaller number of rich fat-cats who have funded McCain's campaign. No matter what, we definitely need campaign finance because political campaigns shouldn't be about who can raise the most money from any source. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24238167/ "In March, his (McCain's) operating expenses were $5 million, his smallest monthly expense so far this year. McCain's expenses ranged from $758,000 for air charters to $151.55 to a Los Angeles florist. The campaign reported a debt of $707,000, much of it outstanding American Express billings. McCain had his most fundraising success in California and Florida, each of which yielded more than $1 million." Annie

I agree! I have been thinking about this a lot lately. People complain about the economy, but they never think about all the money spent on these campaigns. Imagine what we could do with that money. They should have to answer for that. Americans who give to political must be doing good. No mor complaining about the economy. We have money. It is just misplaced as usual.

Well there are several places that the money could come from. When you file taxes, you have the option of donating a dollar for the presidential campaign fund and I am sure that many do. There are also donation from individuals and corporations but I think that there is some limit to how much.
