Hello, Just wondering how easy it is to get your passport, how much it costs, and how long it usually takes. I know that most airlines allow you to show birth certificates for small children, but that a new law next year will make it so you have to have passports for everyone, right? I could look this info up, but just wanted to know if some frequent travelers already knew this information! Sometime 1st hand information is better than googling! Thanks!

It will probably take awhile because so many people are needing passports now. I hope you have plenty of time before you take your trip. If you are going out of the country you are probably going to need passpors for everyone.

It costs £72 for a passport for an adult and £46 for a passort for a child in my home country. A form has to be filled out and passport style photos must be taken. Application can be at one travel agency company, larger post offices or at passport offices. I have heard that for a first application for an adult an interview is given at a passport office. I haven't had to do this because it is a recent rule and I got my first passport years ago. My youngest child was born in 2007 and I took him to a shop to get his passport photos done. Then I got a neighbor to give my baby son a reference on the passport form. It took three weeks to get my son's passport by postal service.
