How do you clean your eyeglasses?

I have wire rim glasses and I have found the disgusting green goo that collects in the crevices to be rather sickening. How do you clean this? Do you soak your glasses in a solution? Clean them with a wipe? I have been known to take alcohol and qtips to them. However, I believe if I could find a solution to soak them in, it would be much more effective.

That comes for sweat; i have it in the corners of my glasses on the part that rest on my nose. I don't soak them cause keeping them clean is tough enough. I can clean them but if you put lotion on your face they just get dirty again. Then if you have scratches on the lens that doesn't help either. Either way keeping your glasses clean is a hard job. How many times during the day do you clean your glasses?

I clean my glasses about 100 times a day or so. Seriously, I have very young kids and my glasses take the brunt of a lot of stuff.

I don't buy a special solution, I just soak mine in warm water with a little bit of dish soap and use a baby hair brush to gently brush that gunk out from around the rims and in the crevices of the nose piece. An old toothbrush would probably work, too, but I don't want to risk scratching them since scratches drive me nuts! I also rinse them off with warm water afterwards and dry them with a soft cloth.

I understand that. I hate the scratches I have, but mine are going on 5 years old. I need a new pair, but money is tight. I can't wait to get some new ones.

Really I just scrape it out with a toothpick or something. Once in a long while I soak them and then wipe them off. My husband used to take them apart and clean them but you can't do that with these invisible ones that have plastic threads around the bottom part of the glass.

What do you soak them in? Just water?

I know this is rather pathetic, but usually I have my eyeglass people clean them or replace the nosepads when I go there to get my glasses readjusted (sometimes I fall asleep with them on and they get uneven). Other times, I take Q-tips to them as you do, or use my finger nail to get what I can reach if there are none available. It depends on how bothered I am about the "green goo." Good luck finding a decent solution.
