Even after having had hoof problems Big Brown is still in the race. Do you think he can win it? Is he really Triple Crown material? I hope so. He is a great horse. What do you think?

I almost didn't watch the race because I didn't want to see yet another wonderful horse go down and I was so afraid that something would happen to Big Brown because of his recent hoof problem but, in the end, I decided to watch anyway. I have to say that I was so impressed with his jockey! I saw him pulling that horse back at the beginning of the race when he was trying to force his way between two other horses and later on when he slowed him before the race ended. In an interview he talked about how much trouble he had in the beginning holding him back because Big Brown was so ready to go, but he didn't want him to get hurt and how he felt him going bad towards the end. That is what horse racing *should* be about...taking care of your horse and not running it so hard it breaks it's own legs. I wish he could have won but he will live to race another day.

Yes, it was sad to see him loose, but he came out alive. It was nice to see that one doesn't have to win at every price. I wonder if the hoof problems led to less training and preparation than what would have been needed. Oh well, there is always next year for the triple crown;)

It was too bad he didn't win. 30 years since we had a triple crown winner, guess it'll be 31 years now. At least he pulled up okay and nothing was wrong. I do wonder if he ran out of steam because he was fighting the jockey so much during the race? It will be interesting to see what he does next? It may not be anything. He won't race after this year. He'll be retired to stud duty.
