I like listening to internet radio while I work, looking for a station

that plays Jazz. I mean real jazz, not the "easy listening" that most stations play. It's very hard to find real jazz. Nowadays most stations play Steely Dan-Jazz?! No way. I hear soft rock mostly on stations that claim to be playing jazz.
The kind I'm looking for has the jazzy beat, lots of sax and horns and guitar and drums, evokes that feeling of smokey clubs and rain pounding in dark alleys, the era of 1920-1960 or so.
Do you know of any?

There's a online station called pandora.com... You can choose your type of music, either by type of music or by artists, or even by both... Then the station automatically picks the songs that are similiar for you... There's also an option where you can "thumb up" or "thumb down" it's selection & it won't play that particular song again... You do have to sign up but it's free to do so... I listen to it at work all the time... You can have multiple artists & tell it to pick all the songs similiar to all of your choices or just some... Try it out & more you play with it, you'll get the idea...

Trouble is, "jazz" is usually defined as easy listening and it has a very distinctive time signature that easy listening music doesn't fit. I'll go there tomorrow, after a day at my NEW JOB!!

First of all, I believe congradulations are in order... When you go to that site, instead of putting "jazz", try searching by some of the artists by their name... I always liked Cole Porter & Billie Holiday on Jazz side and of course no other than B.B. King on Blues side... Matter in fact, he's one of the people on my list on that "pandora.com" site... It automatically brings up songs that are similiar to his style of music... You can always sort out the ones you don't like, as I mentioned... Good luck in your new job & best wishes...

This blog - http://acidjazzy.blogspot.com/ - has a heap of online radio shows and podcast links down the right hand side of the page. They're not all traditional jazz, but some are, and half the joy is in the hunting, right?
