The thought of a sweaty smell makes me run a mile. There are different sweaty smells, some sour, some like garlic and they leave a bad impression on people. I had a colleague who used to come to work without deos and would stink. I tried a lot to stay away from her, but then I realised that everybody was doing the same, so taking pity on her, I told her not to get mad or take me wrong, but it was something i was to tell her for her own good. She agreed and I told her her problem. She now always wears a deo and is a much friendlier person. Sometimes you have to be rude in order to be kind.

hi kethy! i haven't told someone to use a deodorant because they smell. but i've told someone that they stink and they are probably wearing clothes that aren't sun-dried. ^__^;; well its because they didn't smell like sweaty armpits, they smelled like unwashed clothes. ^__^;; but what you did was right. i think it was just right to tell her the problem and you're actually being concerned and nice for telling her the problem and advising her that she use a deodorant. people who just complains about her stinking smell and just staying away from her are just so mean. they would have been so nice if they told her the problem and given her advices because it would be for her own good. and i don't think you were rude on telling her that kethy. you just did the right thing for that girl's sake.

You should have seen this girl now. She left the job and came to visit us some time back. i was amazed at how much in confidence she has grown. She used to be a loner hardly ever talking to people, who kept away from her. Im glad I did what I did for I can certainly see it has helped. Thanks.

Yes, but I have only told people that would not take it offensively. there have been plenty of people that I would have like to tell to use it though. Their body odor was awful. they may have already been using some but it may not have been working very well for them also. I don't want to be rude to people either but they could at least do something with their amr pits it seems.

I agree it is good to be honest to people and in doing so you are really doing them a favour but it is still a very hard thing to do and takes the right approach by a person to do it such a way as not to embarrass or hurt the person concerned...
