Me and some lads at work had an argument about which consoles are better, new ones like Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, Wii etc. or older consoles like PS1, Dreamcast, N64 etc. I recon oler ones are more enjoyable because of how original the games are. Everyone else is saying newer consoles. If you had the choise between an older console or a newer one which would you choose?

new is probably much better and more improved, while old is easier, more accustomed to, and cheaper...so it depends on the situation you are in. can u afford a new one? r u more used to ur old one? do u want to make the switch to modernization? or do u prefer old fashioned ways? it is all about preference...make the choice depending on your needs.

yes but for general gameplay which would you choose? I think that the older games have a much better gameplay.

i cant remember...most games i play are web games. out of the old games, i remember playing atari and tetris because my brother had them. maybe nowadays, the game makers are getting lazy and concentrating more on visual 3d artwork rather than the actual game. they probably need to hire more techies to create a game..

Old concsoles dude, the games where generally better than this next generation poop! Yeah fair enough the graphics now days are immense, but the gameplay just insn't as good as say die hard for PS1, and sonic for sega mega drive... they where the best kind of games!

Yea. Like MGS. That has to be the best game to of ever been made. Older games have an alot better game play and as the other guy said they can be more challenging.

Really it is the games one judges, not the console providing...if it is fun it is fun. Having said that I have not had as many great experiences with the newer consoles as I recall having with the older ones...Bioshock was a memorable experience though.

Its pretty insane to to compare the old gen console and new gen console. The new gen consoles are because of old gen consoles. Both the eras have their charms. Back in the old days I loved to play super mario but now a days I lived metal gear solid. If I were to choose between old gen and new gen I will choose new gen for sure. Why would I chose old gen??

i think the newer games are the best but occasionally the older ones can be good like if you have a rememberance day and dust off the old games and play them i think they difinetly show great charachter and sometimes the newer consoles like the wii they get you doing stupid and sore and annoying things so i feel a bit of both now and then is okay.

both are good because the n64 had classic and very entertaining games like mario 64 donkey kong 64 ,mario kart 64,and smash bros 64. and the newer consoles have games like guitar hero,Mario kart wii, super mario galaxy,Smash bros brawl, patapon, and many good games, for me both consoles are good and entertaining,

If your visually biased, you'd obviously opt for the newer consoles with better game engines that generate very satisfying game graphics. But, certain games, even with not much visual appeal still grants gamers that satisfaction that they get from playing the game. I have your sentiments with the older games since I have played ones that were really challenging. Final Fantasy VII on the PlayStation was really one of them for me. Even though the graphics isn't comparable to those that have came around PlayStation 2, I enjoyed the challenge of the game, and the side quests which have become slightly easier on the games with better visual appeal that were released on the PlayStation 2. Then again, different gamers have different tastes. We're lucky to appreciate the origins of the games that are recently available.

Can I say both? I really like playing my Wii and DS, but it's fun to go back and play some NES classics. Some of those are a good way to kill a few minutes. Plus, they're cheaper. I love all my consoles.

That is a really tough question because I own both an Nintendo 64,and an X-box,and I still play both of them, and both have some awesome games, but if I had to choose one I would probabily go with the newer consoles and choose my X-box.

I always go back and play my PS2. Usually that EA baseball game 05. It has the best hitting system I have seen to date.

This is definitely a tough choice. You have to almost look at the new and old generation systems individually rather than a whole to make a decision and you have to look at longetivity. I admit, I still play my Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, and SNES, but I don't play them as frequently as I do the PS2, Wii, or DS. However, since I have to make a choice, I will say newer consoles are better not because of graphic, but because of gameplay. I love how interactive games have become, how they've diversified (music games, casual games, etc) and how now portable games are grabbing an even bigger share of the market. I still love the old ones (especially RPGs), but today's games just bring in an even bigger audience.

Actually they are all similar, why? They built for entertainment. As times go by, new and improved ones will exists, and I think that's the reason (so far) how will they differ to the recently released ones; being new to human's eye. I have my PS2 and I enjoy playing with it.
