Who knew shopping could be so much fun!

Oh did I ever have a fun morning this morning, after doing my shopping, I came out of the shop with my hands full of receipts, bags, rubbish and a note in change from my shopping. I passed the bin and threw the rubbish in the bin (it was just some leaflet I had been given) and I put my receipt and money in the wallet part of my purse. Gets home, unpacks shopping, I had a coffee and then thought I would sort out how much money I had spent. Only when I went in my purse to get the receipt out, it was not there, what was there was the leaflet I thought I had thrown in the bin. Uh huh, I had thrown my MONEY and RECEIPT in the bing and kept the flippin leaflet! I gathered up my daughter and literally ran back down to that shop, when I came to the bin I just put my hands straight in, and did not stop until I found it! Yes I did find it, thank goodness! I got a few strange looks but I was not really bothered, finding my money was much more important. Of course once I found it and had calmed down, I looked down at my feet to discover I had run down to the bin with my pink fluffy slippers on! It certainly was a fun filled shopping trip! Anyone else admit to ever throwing money away or destroying money by accident? Or throwing anything important away by accident?

LOL, that was funny gemini, maybe you are very excited with what you bought and throw your money instead..LOL, you are lucky to have it intact. Anyway, let me recall...hmmmm, I have not tried throwing my money but I always wash my pants with money in the packet...LOL! Sometimes, I will just insert it in my pocket and forget to get it from there until I will be about to fold my pants and found my money, wet! Cheers!

OK, now that is something that I have not done YET. The way I am being just lately it would not surprise me in the slightest if that was next on my list.

OH My Gemini I am so sorry but I had to laugh at the picture of you in your pink fluffy slippers raking through the bin! lol I think I might have looked at you a bit strange too! I have done the same sort of things before but by the time I discovered it it had been too late to do anything about it. A young friend recently threw her passport in an airport bin along with a magazine she had been reading and then had a huge panic when she could not find it - luckily like you she managed to work out where it was and get it back but not before a few heart stopping moments had passed for her! xxx

Oh no!! How terrible and embarassing. I'm sure you were panicking. I know I would have been. I have thrown away money before but nothing sigificant enough to make me dig through the trash to retrieve. However, my daughter threw our only pair of keys to our truck in the trash. We searched the entire house and could not find them. Then we remembered she was in this throwing everything into the trash can phase. Of course, the trash had been freshly taken out. I slipped on my cleaning gloves and had to go outside and dig through the trash for them. It was pretty gross but we had to have those keys. So, I feel for you. Thank goodness you found your money and I my keys.

Oh no, going through the trash is the worst I have had to do that before, Oh and today of course but that trash was no way as near as bad as the trash bag at home!

Sorry the looking down at your feet bit with the fluffy pink slippers on got me giggling soooo much and I can almost imagine you doing it and the strange looks you were getting whilst rummaging through the bin, now were they because you were rummaging throught the bin or because of the slipper s I wonder. I am so pleased to hear you got the money back though. I am sure I have done this in the past myself but can't think of any incidents at this moment in time. Ellie :D

gemini_rose_ I hope this story gets top story of the day. Sorry to laugh at your travails, but I think you were laughing anyway. (in the end) One day I was eating at Checkers, a fast food place that has tables outside. I like to stop there when I'm shopping. It doesn't cost much and its a small reward. After I finished eating, I threw the trash in my right hand into the outside bin and didn't see my keys until they went sailing in. I did exactly what you did, I stuck my hand right in there are pulled out my keys. I lose my purse all the time. I left my apartment one day and drove off for errands. It didn't take long to realise my purse was missing. I searched for hours before it dawned on me that my purse might have been in the same hand as the trash from the apartment. It was a huge dumpster in the parking lot. I climbed up one the dumpster, and there it was, my purse resting comfortably on top of my trash. I couldn't get in there, I'm too small. I went to the office and this nice teenager offered to help. Without hesitating, he jumped right in and retrieved my purse. I am an idiot!

I enjoyed reading your story, it made me feel slightly reassured that I am not losing my marbles just yet! It was nice that someone helped you retrieve your purse, they could have refused and made you do it yourself!

oh what a mental image.. you bag lady you ..;giggles;.. thankfully no.. ive never acidentally thrown money away. my husband however HAS left his paycheck or a wad of cash in his pants thatve gotten tossed into the laundry. house rules.. anything left in the laundry belongs to the launderer, altho i DO give him his check back so he can cash it LOL beacuse of this rule.. he will randomly leave me notes in his pants pockets.. usually wrappd around twenty dollar bills.. thatll read "love you, thanx for cleanin mah shorts" ..;laughs;.. i think the only thing of importance that ive thrown out by accident was the remote for the tv.. that wouldnt work WITHOUT a remote, so we had to ditch the tv as well because of my leaving it on the edge of the nightstand and it got toppled into the trash thats right next to it and it went unnoticed until it was too late.

OHG--forgive me but I'm laughing thinking of you in those fluffy pink slippers..no wonder you got strange looks...LOL Thank goodness though you found the money though...that was a real spark of luck there. Can't give any specific examples but there have been plenty of times I've accidentally thrown something out...not money but maybe I would discover a piece of jewelry was missing and then realized I must have somehow accidentally thrown it out with the garbage...then I zoom down to our garbage room and go through the garbage...oh, what fun...NOT

Oh you've reminded me of a time when my husband was in the army stationed in Texas. I had stopped to get gas and while the pump was on automatic, I had went to my car to empty out the trash. I had my military id in my hand and accidently threw it away along with my trash!! I didn't know it at the time until I went to get on base and had no id card and realized what I had done!! I had to go through the day in my head and remembered where I had it last and thought, "Oh crap!! I threw it away!!" I flew back to the gas station and looked into the trash can and saw that it had been emptied so I went inside to explain to the clerk of my deliema and asked where the trash bag was and was told in the dumpster!! Oh gosh oh no!! I had to do what they call "dumpster diving to find that one bag that had the trash that I had thrown away... YUCK!! Needless to say, I finally found the bag and my id card but instead of going on base, I went home to get a shower. Trust me, I've been VERY careful from then on!!

Lol, that is hilarious, looking through a bin in your pink slippers. I am glad you found your money though and your hard efforts of gold digging through the bin, lol, paid off. I have not had that experience of throwing anything important away yet, thank goodness. However i have lost my wallet before which is just as bad, and that is really frustrating as you have to order all new cards and get new licence.

About a month ago I was in vons and did my grocery shopping. I took out some extra money on my club card as I needed cab fare. i dimly remembered the clerk saying be careful of these new bills as they do tend to stick together. anyway I got my cab and got home, paid the cabbie with a one and a five dollar bill or so I thought at the time. later that day 'I went to count my money and I was missing one ten' dollar bill. oh my G. I had given the cab driver a one and a five dollar bill but evidently a ten dollar bill was stuck to' the one. So I called the cab company and told them what time I got home and they refused to do a darned thing as they 'said I should have phoned them the minute I got home, 'but I had not as I did not check my money til later that afternoon. but the next time I got the same guy he refused to take my fare so guess his conscience was bothering him.

Oh Hatley that is really bad. I know that we have some new notes in circulation and with them being new they get stuck together, I think that I lost one through that a few weeks ago. But to take advantage of you like that is just downright mean.
