Is it Father's Day weekend all over the world? Or just in the US?

I can't believe that at my age I do not know the answer to this question. Does the whole world acknowledge this weekend as Father's Day. People like to say that their are several days through out the year which we created by Hallmark to sell more cards? I think that is possible. So, my fellow mylotters from other parts of the world, does your country acknowledge Father's Day? And if they do is it this weekend? To make this discussion more interesting, please include your country in your responses.

Hi,i'm from China.Traditionally, our country don't have this festival.Just recent years Father's Day is more and more popular.Maybe it is imported from the US.But i think the fathers all over the word are very back-busting,so we should celebrate them on the Father's Day. Have a good time,Bye.

Hi makingpots! Yes, we do celebrate Father's Day in our country and it will be this weekend. I am from the Philippines, and this Sunday we will be going to my father's house to celebrate with him. My brother and I, together with our spouses, will bring food over to his house so we will have a little get together party for him. Happy Father's day to all Fathers around the world and here in mylot!

Yea. It's Father's Day this Sunday in my country, Singapore, too. I think it's a worldwide thing. Many retailers are capitalizing on this day to earn more money. Actually, days like Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day are becoming more commercialized. It's sad but true.

I come from China, you know.We acknowledge Father~s day here. I also think that Father~s day should be acknowledged all over the world. Because everyone have father, no matter where are you from, and on matter who you are. And everyone~s father should be (will be) considerd, just because that he gived us lives. Best wishes to everyone~s father all over the world!

The hubs had a really great fathers day. We took him out for breakfast before church. And afterwards we took him to a minor league baseball game (one of his all time favorite things to do). His gifts from us are tickets to see two Major League Baseball games next week. We spoiled him.... we think he is pretty special.

Hi makingpots,I am from India.Yes,Father's Day is being celebrated this weekend. But it is a very new trend in our country and I'm afraid not many people follow it ,mostly because many of them just don't come to know about the exact date and secondly many believe that everyday is special with your loved ones.

I'm from the US, but I'm guessing everyone, everywhere would be celebrating. You have a really good point. I don't know if it's a universal celebration. Or, maybe there were countries that only adopted Father's Day more recently. Maybe Hallmark started it! LOL! It's a phenomenal idea. I'm happy someone thought of Father's day. And, Mother's Day. Who thought that one up? Don't they know that Mother's Day should be everyday? That's what I think, anyway. I'm biased though. I'm a mom! LOL!

Gee you learn something new everyday, I always assumed most countries celebrated fathers day on the same day. Fathers day here is usually on the first Sunday of September whilst mothers day is in May. Oh yeah I am from Australia. Happy fathers day, to all dads in the US!

I live in England and it is Father's Day on the Sunday 15th June. I have just finished buying my Dad stuff today, I have got him a card and two tops from JJB Sport for the gym as his gym clothes have holes in them and are kind of awful to be honest. So I got him a useful present that was not socks.
