I'm Done

After working in a private dayhome for over 9 months I am done! I am going to be starting my own dayhome, and I am very excited to just have some time off to get my family life back under control again. Last week though the girl that I had been working for was reported for having way too many kids, and I am pretty sure she thinks it was me. I definately did not do this, infact I will be honest, I was going to, this week when I was done, but one of the parents who pulled her son out, beat me too it. I am wondering what parents are thinking out there that they would allow their kids to go to a dayhome that obviously has more than the allowed limit of kids. I know there are sesperate times when everyone needs to find care immediately. But with the limit for non-licenced care here being 8 for one person, and only if you become licenced 12/2 people, would you not think that you would only use the spot until you could find a safer placement for your child(ren) or does it matter to you?

My kids went to an unlicensed home daycare for a very short while until she got turned in for having too many kids. I knew that she had too many kids, but it did not really bother me. I knew that the kids were all getting taken care of and that none of the kids were in any danger.

thank-you for your response. I should have been a bit more clear with my intro, sometimes the kids weren't taken care of so well, and there were up to 23 children at one time...for me, it was sad because when there are too many kids that you can't tell the parents what happened to give their child a pretty big scratch/cut....not good! I know if I could have more kids in my care legally I could handle it probably up to 12 kids by myself as I have 4 of my own, and have been taking care of other peoples kids for 20 years now ;)
