Do your cats hide in your closet?

My female cat EB, loves hanging out in my big storage closet. Currently, there's an old carpet cleaning machine and various items in the closet. So, it's too junked up to get in the closet and get her out. I don't know what she does in there. Most likely she's just sitting in the bottom of the closet and enjoying her peace and quiet away from the kitten. Like a good mom cat she comes out eventually and puts the other cats in their place. Sometimes my big tom cat, Big Man, will hide in any available closet during a thunder storm. At heart, he's just a kitten and frightens easily! Do your cats like to hang out in your closet or under the bed or other strange hiding place? Why do you think they do that?

My tia loves to hide behind the fridge! Where our fridge is there is a space at the back and a nice handy shelf where she can lie in peace and quiet and it is nice and cosy as the heat from the motor is at the back there! I think she just goes there to make sure she doesn't get her nap interrupted and the heat is an added bonus! lol xxx

Cats love that heat, don't they! Mine is always sunning himself in the window sill when I let him. I am proud mama to three lazy cats.

My cats favorite place to hide is the bathroom closet, and the bathtub. It is really strange. He is always there when you walk in the bathroom and if the closet is open he will jump in, and if not, he jumps in the bathtub. We have to keep the doors shut at all times to keep him out.

Ha ha thats funny. Hope you dont get scared when it jumps out of the closet. We had one kitty long back. When we shifted house she was nowhere to be seen. So we thought we had lost her for good. But the next day she meaowed from the loft. She was so scared and she had hid herself there.

The only time they hide in the closet is when they are scared, ill, or disturbed (emotionally?).

My 2 cats don't go hiding, they run into the closet when I am trying to get something without me realizing one of them are in there after a while later hearing them meowing wanted out. Here I am feeling so sorry for them getting locked in the closet.

My Mimi also runs to the closet right before a thunderstorm, but she doesn't go all the way inside --- just sits and/or sleeps half in, half out. My Waffles cat hides in an old couch until the storm is over, while my Columbus cat takes it all in stride and calmly watches what is going on. And Maxie will usually scoot down in the cellar. And I think that cats do that because they are frightened. When I bought Waffles home from a shelter, the first thing she did was run in my bedroom and hide in the closet for two days. She's still a scaredy-cat and will run away at the least provocation.

My cat doesn't hang out anywhere that would be a hiding spot. He actually mostly likes to hang out outdoors. When he's in the house (and not eating) he is either down here in the recliner or on my bed, or upstairs on one of my moms rocking chairs. Marsha

My cats love to curl up in my closet! I think they think they are hiding in there! My daughter got a baby crib for her dolls and my kitty loves to jump in there and curl up too! Cats find the funniest places to want to sleep!
