Whats the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the saying, "Life begins at 40"? Frankly speaking the first thing that comes to my mind is about married men. That when married men reaches the age of 40 they tend to go flirting with other women. Some would really have relationship with them even to the extent of separating from their real families. They'd go flirting with other women because they say it is at this age that men would try to see if they are still attractive to women even at 40. What can you say about this? Does the saying only applies for men or also for women? Or there's a lot more to this saying, other than married men go flirting.

I think there is more to it then what you stated. For me life begins at 40 meant that I went back to school to work on my Bachelor's degree, my daughters were for the most part grown, and although I was always involved in their lives they could do things for themselves. It also meant that I could re-evaluate a marriage that had not been a happy one for a long time. And I finally ended that marriage and had the strength to start over. I also learned that I could reach goals that I had only thought about. I'm sure that what you stated does happen, but I don't think it happens as often as you make it sound. Life begins at 40 partly because if you have kids they are pretty close to going out on their own and you have time to do things you have always wanted to do.

Thanks for responding palonghorn! Yes, what I've stated doesn't generally happen to every one and I'm aware of that. And as I've said, its just the first thing that comes to my mind. Ciao!
